We've seen a number of reports of the Palm Pre being spotted on the CalTrain and this photo seems to confirm those reports. It won't get the Palm Pre release date here any sooner, but it does seem that the Pre is finding it's way into more hands than ever. Now if it could just find it's way to the hands of everyone. Perhaps on June 7th? No, we're not going there, at least not today. We'll be back tomorrow with your regularly scheduled release date rumor.

Hmmm....The picture is a little more blurry then I like, but it sure does look like a Pre.

does anyone ever come up to these people and ask them? We see all these pictures, but no one seems to ask a thing.... or at least say they did.

it's like the show LOST..... no one EVER asks the right questions.

I'm seriously starting to believe that Palm's next move is contingent on what apple does next. the only logical explanation for them not announcing an official release date, or atleat a price for the phone, is because they want apple to show their hand first. i think they're worried that apple might release a new phone and price it less than the pre. so palm, to me, seems to be scared of a phone that might not even exist.

@Christopher (and 99.9% of all other tech bloggers):
"its" = possessive form of the pronoun 'it' (Ex: Now if it could just find its way to the hands of everyone.)
"it's" = contraction of the two words 'it is' or 'it has' (Ex: It's time for people to learn the extremely simple difference between its and it's.)

I'm the fellow who snapped the photo.
I didn't go up and talk to her because:
1) I have all of the information I need on the phone from the 80 gazillion blog posts out there. I'm not a journalist hunting the latest info on everything. I just wanted to share my experience with my friends.
2) It was the after-work ride home, and I was drained and not feeling very social.
3) I hate it when people come up and talk to me on public transit about a gadget I'm using, and I wanted to afford her the same respect I'd want from others.
In retrospect, I *do* wish I'd asked her why she had it. Maybe there's some super-secret beta program I could've gotten in on. Ah, well. I've got enough keeping me busy right now, I can wait another month :-)

Do you consider it respectful to sneak photos of people while they're riding on the train and submit it for everyone to see?

Uhh...let's see...Caltrain goes to Sunnyvale, which happens to be the headquarters for the aforementioned Palm, Inc. Would it be a surprise that some of their employees are using the product already?

I don't consider what I did disrespectful. I shared the photo with my friends on Twitter. The photo doesn't show the users face or any uniquely identifying features.
I wouldn't feel slighted or disrespected if I was the subject of a similar picture, so I didn't mind taking it.
