Best Buy To Offer Palm Pre at $199 After Instant Rebate

Best Buy will offer the Palm Pre staring on June 6th. The good news is that Best Buy will sell the Palm Pre at $199 after an instant rebate. No mail-in rebates will be required, allowing you to leave the electronics giant with a Palm Pre in tow and an extra $100.

What if reports of limited quantities are to be believed? How will the $199 out-the-door price affect lines at Best Buy? Where do you plan on buying your Palm Pre? Let us know in the comments or in our Palm Pre Forums.

I'm going to tuff (key word) it out at the sprint store in a bad neighborhood. I figure the line will not be long there.

Buying @ Best Buy as I'll probably never get that $100 rebate back.

Best Buy probably just won my business. I've been screwed by too many unfulfilled rebates due to company bankruptcies.

Best Buy knows what's best! Why bother with a mail - in rebate?

I wonder if they will stay open late or open earlier than Sprint....

I'm sure one could wrangle the instant rebate out of a Sprint CSR sales rep, if not, the stores that offer the instant rebate will be very busy, Sprint's phone lines not so much.

I always by my new phones at Best Buy for this very reason as I stated in another post. I did it last year with the Instinct and got the instant rebate in store. That is so much better then filling out a form, sending it in, and waiting 6-8 weeks to get the money back. The only way I wont do it through Best Buy is if I get invited to the premiere release the day before.

So excuse my ignorance..example..my wife contract is up, she has $150.00 for upgrade thru sprint. would she be able use this @ best buy or will she have to pony up the $200.00 and agree to a new 2yr contract...she doesn't have a data plan just family minutes (4 lines)...if anybody can answer I would appreciate it..thanks!
