Palm Pre on Verizon In January?

Rumor: According to the WSJ, a person familiar with the situation, says that Verizon Wireless will start carrying the Palm Pre in January of 2010. Verizon's CEO Lowell McAdam was recently quoted as saying Verizon would carry the Palm Pre within 6 months. This prompted Sprint's Dan Hesse to retort suggesting that Verizon "check their facts". January 2010 would be 7 months.
We were skeptical of the report as it sounded like old news, but could the WSJ be wrong? If you are a Verizon customer, we'd suggest you hold off on dancing in the streets.

I HOPE THIS IS TRUE! I want a pre but i cant switch because I love verizon so much. Im going to the sprint store now to go try out the amazing pre. Verizon has amazing service in my area and sprint doesnt and im on a family plan so it would be easier for the pre to come her instead of me going to the pre.

Not going to happen, Verizon is in damage control, they do not want their customers switching to Sprint. The WSJ must not have seen that leaked internal memo from Verizon, which tried to label the Pre as a device not nearly as good as the BB Storm.

@Shason Briscoe
You do know that Sprint gives you free roaming on Verizon's network right?
Plus if you do the math:
Verizon's Unlimited Data (including GPS and mobile TV which you get with the Sprint plans) Family Plans are:
700 min shared between two lines = $139
1400 min shared between two lines = $159
2100 min shared between two lines = $179
3000 min shared between two lines = $219
Price per additional line = $30
On Sprint, their Unlimited Data Family Plans are:
1500 min shared between two lines = $129
3000 min shared between two lines = $169
Price per additional line = $20
If you do some quick math and check the number of people in your family times the length of the contract you will save hundreds to thousands of dollars.

I say this is BS. Neither party (Sprint or Palm) is allowed to talk about the length of the exclusivity, so Verizon has no way of knowing. If their prediction DID come true, I would assume there would be a lot of lawsuits coming somebody's way. Like mentioned above, every year it seems they say Verizon is getting the iPhone too.
I made the jump from Verizon to Sprint and have been very happy thus far. Granted I've been using the network for only a few days now, but I've been very happy with the service. I listen to Pandora through my car's bluetooth, and I've never once had the data signal drop out on me. I live in Central FL. To be fair, my service with Verizon was excellent as well.

You think Dan Hesse was only talking about a difference of one month? That doesnt sound right. I got to believe Sprint exclusive period is going to be longer and VZW is not getting it anytime soon.

@COCOViper its just that i already switched to AT&T and that was a huge fail since i was paying 80 dollars a month for the iPhone then i switched to Verizon and i only pay 39.99 for the Storm (as much a I hate it) and Verizon also has Friends and Family I also cant get my family to switch to sprint since someone in my family already tried it and voice quality and service was bad for her. Customer Service was also rude to her when ever she had problems with her phone but since Dan Hesse came they became a lot better its just that we dont want to risk that just to go to Sprint then the aren't so good in our area. verizon is amazing in my area and i would have a cheaper plan with it now then if i switched to sprint individually.

Not on the website that I used...
The family plans have an indicator at the top that shows how many users you have on the plan. When you move it from 2 to 3 all the plans go up by $30, same thing for 3 up to 4 and 4 up to 5.
Perhaps you're looking at non-data plans which wouldn't be compatible with the Pre?

This is insane. I have been with Verizon for EVER. Since they were GTE. Seriously. there's a reason I have not switched. In fact there are three: 1) price, 2) coverage and 3) customer service. Yes, I almost wanted an iPhone for 10 minutes last year. Then I found out you can't copy and paste. Oh, I hear they fixed that--well try sending someone a pix message. Not happening. Anyway, I digress.
Extra line at Verizon is definitely $9.99/mo. Unlimited data is $30/mo (Palm). Unlimited text & pix & video messaging $15/mo. These are what I pay now, and are what I have paid for along time. Oh, and for $3.99/mo, I get a $0.10/min long-distance rate to anywhere in Canada. Not bad. Try that with ANY other carrier. (I call Toronto all the time.) Incidentally, I pay $94/mo incl tax for everything. The equivalent with an iPhone would be $150/mo (and no Canada rate and no unlimited texts).

Palm Treo 755p and Verizon loyal to the end.
