Sprint today confirmed the nationwide release of the Palm Pre for June 6th. The Palm Pre will be available on June 6th in Sprint stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack and select Walmart stores. The Palm Pre will be priced at $199.99, with a 2-year service agreement, after a $100 mail-in rebate.

“The argument that you need one phone for work and another phone for play, or that you have to make compromises between business and lifestyle productivity, is over,” said Dan Hesse, president and CEO of Sprint. “With Pre, compromises of the past are history.”

There is widespread speculation that Palm and Sprint will use the tomorrow's Wall St. Journal to announce pricing and availability of the Palm Pre. The NY Times reports the Palm Pre will go on sale during the first week of June.

But the season’s most compelling phone drama will start the first week in June, when Sprint will begin selling the Palm Pre, people briefed on the company’s plans said.
