A report today from Bloomberg says that HP is planning to announce the acquisition of Autonomy Corp, a software company. HP will announce earnings tonight at 5pm EST, so more information will likely be shared on that call. HP will then spinoff its personal-computer business, which would include the newly acquired Palm group.
