I tend to think the number of apps available on the Android and iPhone platforms is more marketing than anything else. While there certainly are apps we would still like to see on the Pré... it is generally considered that something close to 99% of the apps available for Android and the iPhone are just crap. You can get a thousand different flashlight or lighter simulation apps, etc. Also... when you're looking at close to 100k apps for the iPhone (and even 10k apps for Android)... it makes it nearly impossible to be able to pick out the good ones. It just "looks" good to be able to say you have nearly 100,000 apps. Unfortunately, numbers work. People will see that one platform has more apps than another and see that as a big plus... regardless of the quality of those apps. |
