The Twitter apps are ok, but not on par with what you can find on the iPhone.

Even at this early stage, I personally think Palm's webOS apps are better than Android apps. I think webOS is also easier to use than Android. I haven't used 2.0, so cannot do a direct comparison with their latest and greatest. I did spend some time over the weekend browsing the Android Market. I think you quantity, quality argument makes sense there for sure. Even at 300, Palm's apps appear to be of a higher quality.

I'd really like to see Palm knock it out of the park with their Facebook app. I saw a brief demo of it a few weeks back. While it's certainly an improvement over Android's Facebook app, it's still not close to what you'll find on the iPhone.

Again, it all depends on the apps that you use each day. Facebook and Twitter are extremely popular services, so I'd say those apps are critical to a user experience...once you get past the base OS. Palm's got a great base OS. Speed it up and offer a few killer apps and they've got a compelling story to tell.
Why do you think? Has Palm changed directions and does not intend to pursue the business market? Or is the WebOS so difficult to make killer apps for, that some of the companies (Documents To Go, etc) do not want to bother until they see the sales of the Pre go thru the ceiling?
