I use a small FM transmitter I bought from Walmart that plugs directly into the top of the Pre for listening to Pandora in the car. You would think an FM transmitter would automatically be built in. It's also great if you have the Sprint NAV running while listening to music, everything comes straight through the speakers.

I think that the next pre should be made out of lightweight titanium and have a lexan screen so you could run over it at 70 and not even scratch it ;)

I want a 4000mAH battery to go with the FM transmitter so when I leave it on by mistake the battery will last more than an hour.

BTW Titanium is still weak and Lexan has it's own issues with scratches.
Adamantium and transparent aluminum would be the ticket along with a gravaton slider. SOOO Smooth!

Jokes aside if it were made of rugged materials I would pay 100 or 200 more for it. I would save 7x2 dollars a month for insurance on our phones. The buld quality does scare me and I do have some oreo...so until the insurance stays. Plus I have the invisishield and rubber protector. I can only think more advanced materials aren't used typically in phones due to conduction/reception issues.

an FM transmitter doesn't really excite me. I find the quality to be poor on those things. And, with most cars coming with USB/Analog Audio in (or options to easily upgrade), Palm might not be interested in adding this. IMO the device is plenty small already, I would save the room for more memory or a microSD slot.

I honestly love the way the pre looks. As soon as I saw the CES I was in love with this phone. Even now, I hold it in my hand and rotate it and am still very impressed with the asthetics. This is what I'd want:

    -Perfect the construction/build quality.
    -Have 32/64gb built in memory
-Make the charge/dock port easier to open, and maybe move it to the bottom
-Make the center button a scroll ball in addition to a center click
    -Add a 'Tab' button
    -Add a microSD slot
-Better camera with autofocus and video capabilities
-Compass for use with location aps etc...
-Enable the front screen to rotate 90 degrees while the keyboard is extended - thus enabling for typing in landscape mode.

That's really it. All my other gripes can be fixed with software updates.

I also agree 100% with neo's take on the time line on product prototypes. The same applys with automobiles. Did yall think they made next year's models over Christmas break?

    Hardware changes:

    1) Make the charge point easier to access and move it to the bottom. Every time I try to open it it's flick, flick, flick (crap, I hope this doesn't break), ah...finally!!!!
    2) Tighten up the slider. The oreo is just annoying.
    3) Make the back cover easier to get off. It's nice to know it's on there good but changing batteries shouldn't be that hard.
    4) Make the center button a track ball/center button. Would make correcting/selecting text entries easier than the current hunt-and-peck method.

Sidebar: It was accidentally dropped from ear level to the concrete the other day and everything still works fine. Just a huge concrete imprint near the power button.

I want on the next Pre, it should be dual core or quad core cpu, I read that iPhone is coming out with dual cpu's. So Pre should go one step further, also make the storage 64Gigs with microSD slot so it can have more room. But make that you can only install and run photos, music and video from microSD for security issues, follow the RIM road map with security, RIM has one of the best security for business and that speaks volumes for them.

Pre so easy to use even a caveman can use it.
