I think you'd know if you were on wi-fi as you'd have to set it up.
Somebody may come along with an idea.

I just got my Pixi yesteraday and have missed all my texts! I can't seem to get the text alert to come on. THe Help menu on the phone says," If Show Notifications is on, tap Sound> tap System Alert, Ringtone, or Mute...then to tap on Ringtone." Yeah, I went to the Show Notifications tab and I don't have any of these options! Where are they?

1. In the calendar in my old Palm Centro, I was able to edit when I wanted my phone to alert me I had an event coming up (i.e., I requested an alarm to go off 2 hours in advance of the event). I can't figure out how to customize a time in the Pixi's calendar. The longest time is 1 hour in advance of the event and then it jumps to a full day. Any idea how to make it 2 hours or 90 min, for example?

2. I let it completely die before I charged it. Now it's charging with the phone off, but there's nothing on the screen (after the initial charging icon). I don't want to press the power button because I don't want to turn it back on. Is there a way to know its progress or when it's fully charged with it off?

Thanks!
1. This isn't the solution you were hoping for but here is a work around. If you have your phone synced with Gmail or Outlook exchange, you can make the reminder anytime you want and when it syncs back to the phone it will have the new reminder time. For the other solution Google "PATCH - More Calendar Alarm Choices".

2. There is no way to see how far the battery is charged with the phone off. From what I've read and my own experiments, it charges faster with the phone on than with it off. I know it seems strange but it's true.

Do you have Outlook on your PC? If so you can use Palm's DTA, explanation from site below.

The Data Transfer Assistant (DTA) provides a one-time, one-way export of data from Palm Desktop or standalone Outlook to your phone, moving your data to an online service in the process. Your phone syncs with the online service.
The DTA is not synchronization software. It is an export tool. After your your data is moved, you will set up a sync relationship between your phone and Google, Microsoft Exchange, Facebook, or your Palm profile account.

The other ways to do it if you don't want to use the cloud cost money, CompanionLink Express ($40)

When the Pixi is in sleep mode, the screen is black. If a call or text comes in, a tone/vibrate/whatever will happen and the screen will wake to show icons. That is great.

But what if I am away from my desk and don't see that first notification, how do I know there is a message waiting for me without having to constantly wake the phone to check? This seems like basic phone functionality 101, but I can't seem to find anything on this mentioned or explained. I mean come on, Blackberrry has this figured out as do most if not all other phones, so why doesn't Palm?

There are ways this could be done fairly easily I would think, flash the keyboard or glow the sensor light in the swipe area... something that would tell a user to wake his or her phone because there is a message to act on.

Just wondering if anyone else has come up against this one.

thanks,

Cory
There is no way of knowing as of right now unless you patch your Pixi. If interested in Patching, Google "Preware gains patching abilities, LED notifications in the mix" click on the first result. I am using this now on my Pixi and it's great. I don't have to wake it to see if I've missed a call, calender reminder, text message, etc.
