Default Touchstone

Just got one today. Im sorry I dint get one as soon as I got the phone. all of the times I have opened the door has taken its toll on the thing as the door is a little chewed up.

I never found a direct answer but if you were wondering about how strong the magnet is... its strong. Keep in mind the puck utilizes the power from the outlet to make the magnets even stronger. This is powerful enough to put in your car (which I will be doing and show you a nice how to soon). Unless you drive like the Dukes of Hazard and are making sweet jumps the phone wont go anywhere.

Now, I will move on to a problem shared with about half the folks saying the Touchstone has issues powering up in the car. 12v charger ports in most cars arent powerful enough. To solve this when it comes to installing a nice set up in the car without wires PERIOD take this advice (I will be practicing what I preach in a couple of weeks with a DIY write up). Go to Radio Shack and buy the Pre charger kit or something similar with a 12v jack as you usually see with car chargers. Buy a 'replacement' 12v female outlet and wire it directly to the battery. Use electrical tape and wrap it around the male end of the charger and female 12v outlet then hide it behind the dash. Your done.

Step-by-step write up with pics soon.... maybe even a video.

(Yes, you can trust my work as I was a professional car audio installer at one point)

If you're up to the task, this would be a great blog post for the site.

Ok! Ive ordered all the stuff for the install I hope everyone is as excited as I am on doing this. Chris mentioned it might show up on the front page if done right so Ill do my best. Im traveling to SC next weekend anyway so I look forward to using the setup as opposed to holding the slippery phone in my lap (that slides off when I hit the brakes) to check the gps.

Here was my shopping list:

Palm Pre Car Charger Kit

Touchstone Dock Kit

iGrip Custom Fit Holder Without Mount

Cigarette / Power Outlet- Part no. 225054108 @ Auto Zone (Can be picked up from any auto supply store)

As soon as they roll in I will provide detailed hi-res pics with instructions.
