Informative Touchstone Tricks (PSA)

The Touchstone is a wonderful little device. It makes it dead-simple to keep your Pre topped off, so much so that I say it's worth it for every Pre owner to pick one up. It's a bummer that getting it to operate in a car properly is so difficult (really, we don't think it's ready for the rigors of working in a car sitting in the July sun). It's so convenient, we wonder if Palm made the door on the micoUSB port fiddly on purpose to drive people to the Touchstone.
Most people are aware that there are actually a couple little software features on the Pre that are related to the Touchstone. I know I was, but I forgot about them today, so consider this post a public service announcement:
  • If your Pre is on the Touchstone and a call comes in, picking it up off the Touchstone automatically answers it.
  • If you are on a call, setting the Pre down on the Touchstone automatically converts it to speakerphone mode (unless you're using a wired or Bluetooth headset).
  • If you are on a call and the Pre is in speakerphone mode and sitting on the Touchstone, picking it up turns off speakerphone mode.
I present this PSA because today a call came in. I picked the Pre up off the Touchstone to see who it was and said - out loud - "Wonderful. I guess I have to take this." Take a moment to re-read bullet point one, above. ...Oops. Luckily, my caller took it in good humor (I hope).
Any other Touchstone Tips and Tricks you folks noticed? Anybody else been tricked by the Touchstone?

Answering the phone while it is still on the touchstone automatically answers in speakerphone.

I for one resisted getting the touchstone on launch day. Thought why would I need this . Well then after a few days and reports on it I remembered I had a 25% off Card and went back to get one.

I was like this thing is the best and worked great when I was at WDW for 12 days.It was a bonus to have the clock display while it's charging. When I returned I had a nice road trip to the beach for the Kids soccer tourny. We were only home for 3 hours before we had to hit the road. My Jeep has the inverter built in so I just took the TS with me.

Now I knew I needed to get another to move around our 3 cars as well. Ended up with a free one with the BestBuy messup and have been using the Palm Car charger with no problems at all.

The features you mention here is just a bonus of using the devise and I just don't see how I would go back to using anything else and my Pre is always topped off. Now if I could just find a way to convert my extra Back to a Spare battery charger I would be totally set.

So i'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned unless I missed it...but....

if you place Pre on the Stone just at the very bottom of the pre so it sticks but no connection with phone....it won't charge. For me this solves two problems. Screen is not always on & and if the phone is already at 100% (so no need for charging) then it doesn't heat up which can damage battery.
