My battery seems to be getting better by the day, I turned off the auto locate and gps today and it seemed to help make it last longer. I didn't get to charge it full right outta the box. Got it on a charger for about 45 mins right after I got it and then charged to near 100% later that night but it seemed to die off pretty fast cause I will playing with it all night. Since then I have been charging it over night and it seems to be holding a charge for longer periods each day.

Seems to me that if we can leave the phone on the charger for 14hrs like it is initially suggested none of those people have any problems with their batteries. I wish I could but I have *&*(ing class all day! I put it on the charger yesterday at 7pm and taking it off now at 7am we will see how long it lasts.

The auto GPS locate makes a HUGE difference! There's a few simple things you can change around to make your battery life amazing.

First is change your e-mail's to receive e-mail either INSTANTLY, or 5 MIN...for some reason when your phone checks for e-mail's constantly it saves battery power. I have no idea why this is.

Secondly, lower the back light on the phone. I have mine a little over half, but I can def tell the longer battery life.

And the most important...TURN OFF AUTO LOCATE GPS. Before I did that my battery would go from 100% to 96% in about 20 min with me messing around with it. Now that I turned it off, I've been messing with it every now and then for the past 3 hours and it's at 96%.

The battery life does seem to be getting better over time...I think that has to do with me adjusting settings on the phone to get the maximum life out of it.

One more comparision...I used to have my phone idle for about an hour..and it would go from 100% to 95%...now I can have it idle for hour and it'll still at 100%.

I too seem to be getting better battery life each day! It is odd. Outside of the tips folks have listed, I bought a touchstone yesterday and it may just be me but my battery performance seems to have improved quite a bit with that (I know that is illogical). I am probably just losing it because I use the phone so much. LOL

OKay: for my weird little test results:

Yesterday as of my last posting I turned off AIM (logged fully out); and turned off gps. Bluetooth is also off.

Observations:
Charging seemed to progress faster.
Last night around 7pm on the usb powered (presumably slow-trickle) cable it reached 100% - I took it off charger messed with email, web browsing for an hour off and on, away from the charger. After roughly an hour of intermittent activity it had dropped to 95%. This *seems* slower than previous experiences, prior to disabling AIM/gps.

Put it back on USB charger and within half hour it was back to 100%. Per posts I've read in various places I left it charging overnight.

This morning was strange. I attempted to turn *on* the GPS, and it just wouldn't come up or show up as active in Google Maps - I'd go back into the Location Services settings, and it would indicate the gps was again *off*, even after enabling it a minute beforehand.

I decided to fully power cycle the phone, and it 'hung' during powering down, as tho it was waiting for some system service to stop (this is an observation from my linux experience).

I removed the battery, waited a minute, then replaced battery and powered the device back on; everything came up as normal, and the GPS now came up just fine. On my way to work, it pulled my location quickly.

Getting to work over the course of about 35 minutes the battery had dropped to 96% with gps.

Now back at work, I'm on the office wifi, w/o very good Sprint Signal. (AT&T is horrible here too, I think it's the building.)

I'm turning AIM back on right now and I'll post my observations later this afternoon.

Other than what I suspect to be the GPS process hanging - the battery consumption really does seem better today. Will post more later as I observe changes.

For me, when I turned WIFI on, my battery life has greatly improved. Go figure...

Perhaps it's because the battery has been conditioned more but someone said that doesn't matter as much with this type of battery. I don't know...but again, WIFI on for me and I'm doing great. Medium usage in three hours and I'm down to 92%.

Battery Fixed!!! Updated 6/11/2009!!!! This is how the battery life went the day I was pissed off and ready to turn this b!#c# back in.

Woke up and took the phone off the charger at 7am. Looked on the computer and checked my battery at 7:06am and was at 96%.... What the f^(k.

Hopped on the Motorcycle and rode to school with Music Player on which took 20 mins and at 8:08am. Battery was at 83%.

Got out of class at 11:20am and battery was at 28% so I decided to go to the sprint store. At this point Im pissed. I got there at 11:58am and battery was at 4%. Handed the guy my phone and was like I need you to check this for me and he was like its gonna take an hour so I went to my lab at school and picked it back up. When I picked it up the phone was completely dead. So I took it home and plugged it into the charger. I called Palm and was pissed and was like yall need to send me a battery. They told me to keep it on the charger and do the reset, hold down power and toggle the phone silence switch a few times. It reset the phone. I left the phone on the charger for like 10hrs after that and I was like this crap aint gonna work and took it off the charger later that night and waited like 2 hours and the battery barely moved. So I was like ok this may be a fluke. I left it off the charger all night and lost like 4%. I charged it up early this morning to 100%. Played MP3 Player for 25mins and it went to 93%. At 10am it was at74% and that was with me playing with it all day and on wifi and searching the net in class. Turned the wifi off at 10am. Was at school in the library so I decided to charge it up a little. Started Playing Pandora with 97% at 5:45pm and still playing it on the phone 3.5 hrs later and have 30% left. I have also sent like 50 texts and checked my email and still have 30% left. I think its doing pretty well.

So to fix the problem...

1. Let phone die
2. Plug it into the charger
3. reset it with the hold down power switch and toggle silent switch
4. Leave it on the charger for at least 10hrs
5. Set your email sync to every 6hrs.

Default Battery fixes

At first battery needed a charge within 6 - 8 hours. Within about 2 days the battery life has improved to about 12 hours. Why, I believe it has to do with adjusting phone settings. I sync Outlook, Gmail, Hotmail and 2 AOL accounts for mail, etc. Run wifi on the phone and gps. I do let the phone get down to about 20% before I throw it on the charger. I did adjust the screen brightness, set the sync to about 1 hr on the less important accounts, and try and let the phone charge overnight without being disturb. I have only shut the phone off once since being owned, I leave it on all the time.

How I know that is reset it... I just do it and don't say nothing. Now is charging until tommorow.
