Default Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb (but lucky)!

Woke up this am with my Pre wildly switching back and forth between vibrate and sound, the screen flashing features not working and could not shut it off. Rushed it to the Sprint emergency phone hospital where I was amazed to see water coming out of the back!! They told me sorry - get a new one thru insurance. Did not really want to part with that $100 deductible. Was trying to figure out how in the world I could possibly gotten water inside of it since I am so careful with it. My wife reminded me that I leave it in my bathrobe and I like hot showers........and hot showers produce steam.........
After arriving home I vaguely remember a post (I think here) that mentioned about removing battery and then placing it upside down in a container of rice. Did that and it is now working!! ........at least for now if no corrosion has taken place. My thanks to the unknown person who saved my Pre. Sidenote: the girl at the counter also had a Pre and every time it rang the email notification went off I kept reaching for mine.......

Wow, I'm glad you got it working. I always tell my kids not to take their phones in the bathroom when they are showering that the steam will ruin it. That even goes for ipods. It's great you got yours to work. The other thing I have been told is when you buy something and it has those little SILICA preservative packets, save those all in a baggie and if something like this ever happens again, they are made to soak up moisture. So you stick your phone in a baggie full of these and it works like the rice and sometimes even faster.

Never thought about the irony of this: three people from the other forum asking/answering questions on this one!!!

Thats because I have a Pre Plus now because I couldn't stand AT&T's service a minute longer. I still use my iphone as an iPod touch. If I can't have an iPhone on Verizon then the Pre Plus works, does everything I need in a phone. They are not being very nice to me over there because of it, although I'm sure a lot of them are hopefully just kidding around
