Default Finally Voice Dialing over Bluetooth for the Pre (Sort of.)

The New BlueAnt V1 (and Q1, I think) can do Voice Command / Voice Dialing but is limited to 9 Numbers.

You can assign 7 of the 9 to preset names, i.e. (Call Home, Call Office, Call Favorite, Call Speed Dial 6, Call Speed Dial 7, Call Speed Dial 8 and Call Speed Dial 9), the last two are Call Googs 411 and Call Voicemail and are fixed.

You set the the 7 numbers by pressing and holding the Volume Down Button for 3 seconds after you are finished with the last call that you want to assign.

For example if my "home" just finished calling, I would press the vol down button for three seconds and a voice would ask me what preset I want to assign the last number received and I would reply..."Call Home."

You do this with the 6 other calls you receive and then you have all there is.

This isn't ideal, but it will do for me until a true voice command app comes along.

BTW, it will announce all phone numbers of the person calling you and will ask you if you want to "answer or ignore." For example, "888-111-444 is calling....answer or ignore?" No need to push any buttons to answer.

To call, just push the button on the BlueAnt and say..."Call Home."

I would get one but they are not A2DP so won't work for me. Guess I have to wait...

Read about this a few days ago, I love my Jawbone and I'm not going to buy another headset just for this. *sigh* I just have to keep waiting and praying

I personally like the LG HBM-730 best for clarity and comfort, but will use this until a full blown "Voice Command" app is available like the one from Microsoft for WinMobile phones.

But in the mean time, this one works GREAT, even though I am limited to 7 configurable numbers. I can at least get by with my most used 7 favorites.

I bought the BlueAnt Q1's and liked the idea and the fit. The OP is right you can set up the speed dial this way. It's not the best but it works. I ended up buying them through Spint on recommendation from a sales person. I had them for 2 weeks and the problem we (my gal and I) had was that the headsets would not stay charged longer then 1/2 an hour and would completely die. I went to Blueants site and updated the firmware thinking it may fix our problem but didn't.

I visited a link here of compatible bluetooth devices and noticed that the Q1 is not listed as supported for the Pre by Sprint. I called Sprint and was told by a rep that the Q1 is not supported. I immediately took the headsets back to Sprint and exchaged them for the Plantronics Discovery 925's and have been happy with the clarity, comfort and battery life. Now I just need true voice dialing and I'll be all set.

Hope this helps.

So far my battery life has been great on the V1. Can't say about the Q1 though. It is 5:00pm on Saturday here in California and I have had it on since 8:00am this morining and it is still working fine. After I have had it a little longer I will post on it again. Sounds like you had a defective unit(s) if you only got 1/2 hour battery life...or it is a problem with the Q1.

I love this thing! Especially now that I don't have to look at my phone to see who is calling me....it anounces the phone number calling me and asks if I want to "answer or ignore".....if it is a bill collector, I just say "ignore"

One more note on battery life....Today I used the phone all day and quite a few calls and the battery in the BlueAnt is still at "Medium" at the end of the day.

Just say "Check Battery" and the BlueAnt will respond with "Full", "Medium", and "Low". At least I think the third one is "Low", I haven't actually heard that one even after an all day use.
