Some people don't care about the total cost. They want the phone they prefer and will usually pay for it. Cheaper to use doesn't always translate into being a better phone.

In this economy, saving $500 a year is a big deal.

It's definitely a lot bigger factor in people's decisions than it once was.

IMHO There are people who won´t care about price but the phone and others would think in their pockets a lot before buying.

I really need a 16GB? All are multitouch but 2 have multitask only?

$99.78 or $ 77.74 monthly ?? And more personal things.

Nevertheless, Wall Street expects Apple to sell over 7,000,000 iPhones in this quarter, so somebody's buying them.

I could never understand even with the steep monthly cost of the iphone, some how every teen, college student is walking around with an iphone. Thunderwang you are right there is a lot of people buying iphones. Its the hip thing to own.

Like I've said here before, I have a buddy who owns an iPhone 3GS. I've actually used it quite a bit, and it's NOT a bad phone. The UI is silky smooth, apps open much faster than on the Pre, video looks great on it and the iPhone can actually SHOOT video. Oh, yeah - real copy & paste.

I think a lot of people buy them because they want to own one, not just because it's "hip."

Apple doesn't set texting costs, Carlos. AT&T does.
