[quote=womanhattan;135435]I returned the Palm Pre a month ago. I hated switching from Sprint to Verizon because of the far higher monthly costs for comparable plans (I had no problem with Sprint service) and the termination fee. But on the day my father died, I realized how critical it is to have a smartphone work properly in times of crisis, and how intolerable all the little headaches and inconveniences could be. It's worth the hundreds of dollars I will be losing by switching. It would have been so nice to have a phone like my new Droid during my father's illness....<snipped>

My belated condolences on the loss of your father and loss of communication when it really would've counted. I had many similar experiences, including going through FOUR handsets, but what I missed does not compare.

It will be interesting to see how Pre Plus fares on Verizon against the Eris, Droid, and soon to be introduced Nexus One. I'm guessing not so well although the changes are great upgrades, there's still no video camera! The Nexus phone may have me considering dropping a bundle to move to Verizon from Sprint. Right now, I have the Moment which is a great phone, but just a bit too chunky. I drooled over the Droid, but the ETF's for 2 lines stop me every time.

I'm glad I switched phones. For me, the Moment is what the Pre should've been!

Man, I just wish the Nexus did away with the trackball...there is absolutely no need for it.

Agreed. I like the track pad better, not necessarily for the function, but for the flat profile.

Default I want to return my Pre too, what can I do?

Hi..I am another loyal Palm fan for many years..I love my Treo755p and still keep it, despite the fact that I got the Pre..Gee..I'm glad I did that..because I hardly use the Pre as a phone..but a web browser and GPS.

I'm so disappointed that Sprint can't seem to make it work smoothly. Anyway..I think I almost have enough..of the inconvenient it has cost me..
So..I'm seriously consider getting rid of it and so entertaining cutting the tie to Sprint after being with them for over 10 yrs altogether as this is the first time that I am free from multiple 2 yrs contract.
But how can I get something out of returning my Pre? Would I get any credit or can I exchange it for something else? I am well beyond the one month trial period. I want to try the android stuff people raving about..

Please help!

I'd hang out a little longer if I were you to see if Nexus One comes to Sprint after Verizon or if the Hero updates a bit. Just to see the faster processor would be ever so sweet! If you really want a keyboard, get the Moment. I think you'll really like Android after being so long frustrated with the Pre.

Good Luck whatever you decide. Before jumping off Sprint, you may want to see what customer retention is willing and able to do for you...I hear they work miracles!

I'd agree here. I think they have some of the best priced plans at the moment. I got a 20% discount... seriously, where else can you get Unlimited data, video and voice (with any time to any mobile ) for 69.99 450 plan. When was the last time you called a LAN line? I don't or if I do, everyone I know has a mobile phone. my currently bill is about 57 a month . I'm quite happy with their service and i'm happy with the my Pre for now. Best of luck.

It's not always about the price...it wasn't for me anyway.
