The battery life is just god awful. I know I can get a replacement but I really don't want to pay 45$ for it.

HOT HOT HOT. It is almost scalding where the battery is, must be cause it is draining so fast.

Lack of apps. It is pretty short sighted to not have released the dev kit yet. I can't even get a simple grocery app, which is fueling my iphone envy.

Things that will probably make me keep it:

The keyboard is responsive, which is a huge upgrade from the instinct which never kept up with my typing.

The apps I do have are awesome. I love pandora, fandango, and most of the mlb stuff. The flight track saved my ass when I had to pick my brother up and forgot the slip of paper with the number at home.

The feel. The phone is light but solid. It feels great in my hand and it actually fits in my pocket without it looking like I am happy to see you.

I am 75-25 in favor of keeping it but anything could happen in the next two weeks.
The battery life is not awful. See Anandtech's review... the battery life is very comparable to the iPhone. You've got to have your settings correct (brightness, e-mail check delay, etc.). Also, the battery does not get hot. The processor gets hot, because that is where the power is burned.

i returned my pre.
the first pre i got had a oreo screen...so i exchanged it on my break from work..on my way back from the sprint store, i noticed that the screen was even my loose on the new phone...
so once again, i had to drive across town to the same store i bought it at.
Once i got there they told me that they only exchage the phone once and that i would have to PAY a 35 dollar restocking fee.
i told them that there was no way i was paying for a defective phone and that it wasnt my fault. He then told me that it wasnt he fault either...Which is true to a point but you have to take responsibilty for the products you sell.
at this point i still wanted a pre...after complaing for about 15 minutes they said they would wave the restock fee..
Great.
So they brought out another new pre in box, took it out, and ITS screen was loose too. I said this is unexceptable and i asked if i could simply get my money back..
they said i would be charge 50 DOLLARS to return the phone. they then left to take care of other customers and left me sitting there for 30 minutes until i asked what i was waiting for..they said that THEY were waiting on ME to make a decisicion.

After that i said i wanted to talk to a magager. They called one and said he would be at the store in a "few minutes" and wouldnt let me talk to him on the phone. He came in guns a blazin. He said there was nothing wrong with my phone and they were all like that. I said "bull**** they are" and thanks to this forum i wouldnt take that as an answer..
He then said he could take 5 pres out of the back and they would all be exactly the same..he did so and when he took them out, 4 out of the 5 had loose oreo screens. the 5th was the one i said i wanted. I MADE him look at the 2 phones side by side and under his breath admitted that i was right.
I wish that was the end..but its not.
He tried to activated the phone, but sprint told him that the serial number on the phone was suspended. ITS A NEW PHONE how is that possible.
So since they couldnt activate it, he was forced to give me my whole 300 dollars back and i left the store with no phone and 2 hours of my time wasted. not to mention i lost 100 dollars not being at work.

When i tried to call sprint about this they tole me i had to..get this..
WRITE A LETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!
ive written 3 letters in my life and the 4th isnt going to be to sprint.
its almost 2010 not 1957. im not going to write a letter...

This whole thing has left such a bad taste in my mouth...

Sorry so long.

how is that possible when we opened 5 boxes?
i NEVER twisted my pre. the screen was so loose that when i tapped anything on the screen it clicked like that stupid blackberry.

So you can say it as many times are you want...but your "expert" opinion is wrong...

PEACE OUT

'so many'? I can't remember the last person that complained about the 'oreo' twist.

@seraphemz

I know you feel the need to defend the pre (I do to at times to). But really, just because your pre does not have this problem does not mean the problem doesn't exist.

Ive seen it first hand, I had a pre that was loose and it is really annoying, the two halves constantly twist in your hand even when your doing the simplest of tasks, answering the phone, turning the screen on, using the the touch screen... just holding it.

I took mine the the store and compared it to 3 phones 1 was good and the differences was VERY obvious.

I'm not trying to jump your bones or nothing, im just saying, a lot of people seem to refuse the idea that there is even a problem just because their phone does not do it. That logic does not apply to anything else in the manufacturing world so it should not apply here either.

EDIT:
Also, its possible that you just have a different level of tolerance than he does, you may both have had the same twisting problem but to you its not a problem and its a perfectly acceptable anomaly. He Feels differently, and if he feels like this issue with the phone deems it unworthy of his $200+two year contract, well, thats his call.

Can you check out the video on youtube and let me know if thats what you consider the 'oreo' effect? ( just search for Pre Oreo... )

Thats what im talking about, in the video the person is clearly twisting the phone... and even manipulating it so that its twists. That doesnt make sense to me.

Dynamite even claims that "tapping" his screen made it click. Last time I checked it was a "TOUCH" screen... Why would you be 'tapping' the screen enough that it 'clicks' That just doesnt make sense to me.

If you're still within your 30 days, I would strongly consider taking your phone to a Sprint store that offers equipment repair... My Pre was losing charge quickly as well, and even began just, 'shutting down' whenever, after a couple weeks of use. I had the battery tested and it was bad. The Sprint store clerk told me that there have been some issues with bad batteries.

Since my battery replacement, NO PROBLEMS, and also NO HEAT (from the battery)!!! Go to the nearest store!!

Good Luck!!!
