Can you check out the video on youtube and let me know if thats what you consider the 'oreo' effect? ( just search for Pre Oreo... )
Thats what im talking about, in the video the person is clearly twisting the phone... and even manipulating it so that its twists. That doesnt make sense to me.
Dynamite even claims that "tapping" his screen made it click. Last time I checked it was a "TOUCH" screen... Why would you be 'tapping' the screen enough that it 'clicks' That just doesnt make sense to me.
I wasnt Twisting the phone...i treated it like a baby.
I think i understand what a touch screen is man.
when you touch the screen to, lets say start an app...the screen was so loose that the two halves of the phone clicked together..
i wasnt tapping hard either....
why is so hard for you to accept that some phones, at launch, have defects?

there are phones that are defective.
Im just saying that what you are claiming is ilogical.
No matter how loose the screen is, by just opening an app shouldnt make the two halves click.. unless you are applying pressure. And more pressure that is needed.

I've had my Pre for about two weeks, and so far, for the most part, I'm pretty satisfied with it. I am disappointed with the app store so far, and sincerely hope that they come out with some more apps in the near future. I was under the impression when I first heard about the Pre that the App Store for the Pre was going to be comparable to the one for the Iphone, but so far, it's been pretty disappointing.
I am hoping in future software upgrades to see some things like the Visual Voicemail, video capability, timer and stopwatch functions, and so forth, because these little bells and whistles are what still make wonder if I wouldn't have been happier with an Iphone. Also, some of the apps that I currently have on my Ipod Touch that aren't available on the Pre have me still carrying both devices around, which is what I was hoping to get away from when I bought the Pre.
However, like most that I've read on here, I have heard horrible things about AT&T's customer service, which is what kept me from seriously considering switching to them. Apparently Verizon won the J.D. Power Survey for best customer service, so Sprint might want to get their stuff together, or all the Pre's in the world aren't going to save them.
I just got my Palm Pre yesterday morning, I went though iPhones, Blackberries, Androids and this one is incredible. I'm having issues though, anytime I'm on my email, google maps, or the web browser I get this annoying box show up. It's about 1"x1" and it's full of additional characters to input, it just appears, there is no way to get rid of it, then goes away on its own. Happens everytime I open those apps. Also my emails freese when I try to scroll down, and the browser freezes whenever I try to zoom in and read. Also my notification sounds are not working for my email I've had to shut the phone down about 20 times since yesterday morning...I know this is not normal, I will be going to Sprint today and getting an exchange. But has anyone else had this problem??
So on Saturday I started having a problem with my Pre. It began exhibiting the screen open/close shutdown problem, i.e. any time you snap the screen shut or even move it, the screen flashes and the phone shuts down. I promptly took it to Best Buy and I did get the service plan. There's a very friendly and knowledgeable cell customer service guy there who has taken care of me so far for activation, screen protectors, cases, etc. He reseated the battery and the problem stopped. Still, it bothers me a lot that it happened at all--and taking the case off and reseating the battery is not something I can do regularly. It doesn't upset me too much, since the plan will cover this if it remains a problem.
I'm also pondering the $850 replacement fee if you don't have a plan... how do they justify these price points for non-contract phones? It seems so artificially set as to be criminal.
I just ordered my 5th pre today. Before you bash me, hear me out.
Pre 1 had the open close problem. I noticed before I left the store, so I was on Pre 2 within an hour.
Pre 2 had a really bad yellow spot that would get worse after the phone had been on for a while, I don't live near a corporate store and the store near me has to order a replacement phone...so Pre 3 happened after 1 week.
Pre 3 was cracked INSIDE the screen. If the screen brightness was halfway up or more...you could see a crack on the bottom left of the lcd screen. So I got Pre 4 after 1 week 3 days of purchasing pre 1.
Pre 4 had the same crack on both sides of the screen AND the headphone jack didn't work. So today, I ordered pre 5. 3 weeks after getting Pre 1.
Part of the problem is that the replacement phones they are sending me are phones that have been returned by other customers.
Oh, all the phones had the wobble...but that isn't a manufacturing defect...that's just poor design.
After all that...I still say that I love...erm...like my pre.

Whoa! That is hard core. I would like to believe I am that much of a Palm fanboy, but thankfully I haven't had that much trouble yet. We're all just paying the familiar early adopter tax. For me, so far, it's still been worth it.
