When I had the Hotmail account setup, I hadit to check the email every 30 minutes. I don't think frequency is an issue. But, I am not sure Hotmail is the cause of the battery drain either. I think reports from other folks with this issue will give us a better indication whether hotmail is the problem or not.

Just wondering, Lynx, do you have hotmail setup and do you expenerience battery draining issue? thanks.

I had the same warmth issue yesterday and when I charged the battery from dead it was really warm. I decided to turn off the Instant messenger for the phone (both AIM and GTalk) and it has helped tremendously so far today. Keeping fingers crossed. I've heard that AIM and Gtalk have a glitch still that causes the battery to drain. May not have been fixed in 1.0.2 yet.

i believe the touchstone gets partially hot anyways due to the type of charging that happens.

I wonder if it has anything to do with contacts. I had the guy at the store move my contacts over from my old phone and they didn't all show up at once. He said he's noticed that and they all show up eventually.

Perhaps, and especially if you synch with multiple emails and have tons of friends on Facebook the phone slowly gets everything synched in the background? I dunno.

I think it is my hotmail that is causing my battery to drain. I have it set up to sync manually but it seems to be syncing all of the time. I can't find anyting out there to correct this, even when I have it manually set up.

Anybody find anything yet? (and yes, my battery has been getting really hot)

Iivinhope - i'm not gonna lie and say that my battery life is great. I'm running all location services... Gmail... AIM... No blue tooth... No wifi... My signal in my office is not that great (not sprints fault - its a concrete building w/ no windows) I'm on 10% and I have been showing the phone off like crazy...
Getting ready to leave work now and will charge in the car...
All in all... The battery life is about what I was expecting in this environment (my treo was on par with the pre and it was a 1800 mAh so I'd say with the pres extra features, its not so bad for me. But some people may have bad batteries (?)

Oh and no I am not running hotmail on my pre...

I'm sorry if I was rambeling; because I am typing this on my pre and cand figure out how to scroll within a text box on a web page... Anyone know?

PS - I do love this phone for a G1 device... It rocks

I contacted Sprint Technical service and they are aware of the heat/battery issues. Surprisingly, they kept pushing me to return it within 30 days and look at a blackberry device. They didn't seem confident that Palm will have a quick fix.
