i have no idea how to do it but just dont use them and tell your friedns dont send any problem solve.

Because i dont like emoticons. And I use smiley faces all the time. Sometimes the text just has one in it, I find it annoying when I'm reading something that was intended as not a smiley face having a smiley face. So no, not problem solved.

I agree I hate them as well and wish there was a way to turn them off as I never use them and find them annoying
