It's got to be GSM for me. I hope by the time a GSM version is out they have most of the bugs worked out. That's probably wishful thinking on my behalf.

I've got to make a decision whether to kill off my Verizon Wireless account once and for all. The Palm Pre, on Verizon, would certainly keep that account alive.

With regard to GSM, and assuming US 3G bands are included, I wonder whether AT&T would be willing to pit the Pre up against the iPhone?

Good question. I tend to think AT&T wouldn't. It appears they have abandoned the introduction of new Palms to the their rivials.

It all depends on when the iPhone exclusivity ends. I spoke with some guy (and take this with a grain of salt) that said 2009 is the last year for the iPhone exclusive with AT&T and Verizon would get the iPhone in 2010.

I had forgotten that AT&T had an exclusive on the iPhone. That would be great if the iPhone went to other carriers and AT&T had the Pre. That would meet a lot of people's needs.

I've started beefing up my online contact information and have started populating Google Calendar, et al in anticipation for the Pre goodness. If I want to see my existing lunch plans for today the Pre will pull my calendar and contact info from 'the cloud' and tell me when to turn left, etc. But if I want to schedule plans for tomorrow's lunch, do I need to visit Google Calendar to set this appointment, or can I just enter it in the phone, trusting that the phone will know where to put the data? In other words, I understand that webOS will easily pull data from web-based services, but how will it write to web-based services?

Insights appreciated,

I believe you will have that two way integration. It's critical to have syncing of some sort. They are pushing syncing with the Google "cloud", so I think it's safe to say that it will sync from the Pre to the cloud.

That reminds me, I have to start moving my iCal stuff to Google.

Great question by Plaid and I certainly think it's got to be how you described it Chris.
