Question Is Existing Palm Centro Kaput?

Hi:

If I buy the Palm Pre will my existing Centro Palm desktop app be useless?

I've been reading a lot about problems about porting contact, memo, calendar data to the Pre. Doesn't sound very attractive. Has anyone had a positive experience?

Is anyone having success hard-syncing data between their Pre and and their PC or MAC?

Signed,
Concerned

Yes and no. There isn't a Palm sanctioned desktop app, but there are alternatives such as Mark/Space's Missing Sync for Palm Pre.

I haven't used any of them, so cannot speak from personal experience on how well they work.

I am trying to decide to upgrade my Centro to the Pre. I have had a Palm Phone since they came out. I went to Verizon today to upgrade and chickened out. Will someone help me decide? I love the desktop software of the Centro. I read that you can get that app but where?
Help!
Thanks...

I finally gave in at the Verizon store and got one. But only after I asked 15 times if they are sure I can return in 30 days if I didn't like it. You can try it and always return it if you don't like it.

I returned my Droid to Verizon without much of a problem. I did get charged activation and the monthly fee. They also hit me with an ETF, but that was removed after I called. Using the Droid for less than one month cost me $113.
