I use the Plantronics 855 and works great for my needs.

Same. The audio quality for music isn't GREAT but it's not too shabby. The convenience of no cables is super nice though.

One word of caution: all of the earbuds were too big for me. I ended up using the ones that came with my Sony headphones.

Plus you can get them for dirt cheap on several websites.

I third the Plantronics Voyager 855. I use the smallest earbuds and they have excellent bass when you actually make a seal. They're great noise canceling. Listened to music during a flight and could barely hear the jet engine (and was only at 1/2 volume). Also you can get them for about $30 on ebay.

Kinda sorta maybe. It's usually not specifically mentioned and because it's a newer tech I'm not sure it's specifically banned. Also I figure if you can have your laptop connected to a wireless signal on a flight now, then a 30 foot bluetooth signal isn't going to interfere with much.

Honestly even the cell signal has been proven time and again to have absolutely zero chance of interfering. But changing an FAA regulation tends to require an act of the flying spaghetti monster.

That's not really correct. What they tell you on planes is that any electronic device that transmits a signal must be turned off or placed in "airplane mode" (which includes disabling Bluetooth). This thankfully covers just about any "new tech".
