Clear Cover Pre Case Do not buy this. It's actually the least expensive Pre case out there...the fancy looking plastic one with the clear cover. I thought it was cool because unlike other plastic holsters, it doesn't clip to the phone. Bought it this morning ~8:15. Returned it by lunch. It doesn't stay closed and it is WAY too easy for the phone to fall out. Avoid at all costs.
Are you sure you clipped it on securly? The piece that goes over the 'face' of the Pre is a little tricky to secure; super easy if you clip the top first, then the bottom. I found it easiest to do with the handset slid open. Even managed to secure it over the screen cling that protects the screen initially. I trimmed the tab a bit to allow the case to clip on without being obstructed. I'm not taking that cling off until I can get a screen protector on this little gem! I had no problems getting the other half of the clear case on.
Yeah you probably didn't secure it on all the way. It is very hard to clip on and if it will not fall out, You will probably have trouble gettinh it off actually after you put it on the phone,
I think we may be referring to two different cases actually.....after seeing the clear holster referred to in other threads...what I have is two separate pieces...no clip.
Yeah, not sure if it's the same one. I am referring to this one and I would not recommend it: http://www.intomobile.com/2009/04/10/palm-pre-holster-from-agf-makes-an-appearance.html It looks much better on the web than in real life but the main problem is that the clip at the top doesn't clip securely.
Thisis the best case that I have seen. It fits securely and allows the phone to be moved while providing protection. I have this and its super snug on the phone. You can get them from bestbuy
I have this as well. I like it but the bottom of the front cramps the keyboard a bit. However, I'm already used to that little annoyance.
I purchased this same holster on Saturday and returned it on Sunday....this holster doesn't seem to hold the phone very securely and the cheap plastic tab could easily be broken accidentally. Plus one handed removal can be cumbersome...I am waiting on seidio to release a pre holster because theyu make the best holsters hands down!!
This is dissapointing to hear. I was looking forward to this case. Thanks for the heads up though. I hope Palm retools this case and gets a better one on the market soon. Guess I'll be heading to Best Buy to see what they have in stock.
Just got the RockFish shell with holster from Best Buy. Not bad for $25! Seeme like it interferes with the slide action on the keyboard a little and stops the slide a little short. I can push it up the rest of the way but this might start to irritate me after a while. Close action works fine. I'll give it a few days and see if it loosens up a bit. The holster is nice. Holds the phone in securely. At least it's protected now.
Are you talking about the $25.99 case sold at Sprint? If so, they were told to pull them from the shelves not too long after stores opened on Saturday because the phones would fall out of them.
Hmmm. I asked them prior to buying if they had any problems and they said it was all good. I am not having a problem with the device falling out of the holster. I have pulled as hard as I want to pull on my new Pre and it is not coming out of this thing unless I press the tab. My only concern is how it impacts the sliding mechanics of the keyboard. If this doesn't work itself out in a few days it will go back.
Cloak, I had the same problem at first. Then after real close inspection I realized I did not have the hard plastic case on entirely. A little shifting and the rocketfish shell fell into place and the slide ation was back to normal. Best of all I have a leather holster from my old smart phone that the pre fits into snugly when the rocketfish shell is on. So kind of a two for one in my case. RB
OOC, does the RocketFish come with a screen protector or just the case iteself? I looked at it the day I bought my Pre but I can't remember.
I have the RocketFish and it does not cover the screen. You'll have to get a "screen only" skin for that part. Everything else is covered though. It fits nice and tight. So tight, in fact, that I'm leaving mine off until they get the bugs worked out as I have no fingernails to pry it off when I have to do a battery reset.
Has anyone else who has the rocketfish (clear) noticed that it does not seem to click together completely (at least neither of the ones I've used have, on one of the upper sides it doesnt seem to snap completely). Also, is anyone using one with an Invishield or any other shield? I had a bestskinever skin on there and everytime I tried to put the rocketfish case back on it'd end up pulling it off.
I took my rock fish back and got the palm case with the clear front. The rock fish never seemed to click all the way on and got in the way of the keyboard slider. The Palm case seems to be getting a bad wrap because phones are falling out, but this is because people are putting the phone is the case backwards. If you put the phone in with the screen facing forward then it does not close right and unlatches easily. If you put the phone in correctly, with the back facing forward, then it closes properly and does not open accidentally. The phone is not snug in the Palm case and rattles a slight bit when walking. But it protects the phone well and I just love holding my pre without a cover when i'm using it. Also, i'm not sure how well, if at all, the rock fish works with the touchstone. Decisions, decisions...
I had the same problem. To get mine to work properly, I had to first open the slider and keep it open until after installation. Then, hook the back cover over the top first and then snap it down the sides and around the open keyboard. Then I had to hook the front cover under the bottom and snap it up the sides and around the open top. The last tabs should be the back bottom and front top, and they will require a bit of force as this is a very tight fitting case. So tight fitting, in fact, that I suspect it would not work with more than a screen only shield at most. EDIT: @cloak.n.dagger: It does work with the touchstone. I'm not sure if there's a difference in charge or magnetism, but it does not seem so.
