There's a good point there -- how many people are going to buy Pre's partially for development? Reckon Palm will sell a dev only version of the Pre, similar to the way HTC sold a dev G1?

They might release an emulator of the software eventually. I know blackberry has emulators for each of its different models.

I wish I could program. I took a couple C++ classes and I couldn't wrap my head around applying the code.

I takes practice and practical application some times to learn any programming language.

Yeah, and I never had a real use for it.

I never was able to competently write intricate code...
As far as I can go is some Visual Basic for Office Apps and SQL stuff...
As a sign language interpreter I can competently translate the material. I've interpreted Java/MYSQL/C++/etc...

But if there are any WebOS programmers that will be looking for some Beta testers who are technical and somewhat programming savvy, I'm happy to help.

I could probably sift through code and find stuff but I wouldn't be able to write it.

I'm good at trouble shooting in the real world... Like knowing which programs I used before and after a Program crashes and helping to develop a theory as to how and why... You can look through the code

Wow, what a dickish thing to say. Why on earth would people lie about their contract status or the amount they are willing to spend (which by the way is still not known info). Geez. I have been out of contract for months simply because there was nothing worthy of upgrading to. Not EVERYBODY counts down the days till their contracts expire in order to immediately get whatever trendy device happens to hit the market. Some of us (many of us) upgrade based on device quality, not contract eligibility.

Anyway, this is Palm and Sprints opportunity to stay afloat in this oh-so-competitive smart device war. By intentionally limiting the number of devices that can be sold, they would be compromising their entire intent. With Sprint getting the new HTC Touch device coming out right around the corner in Quarter 3 for Sprint (as well as other carriers getting new Android and iphones), They need to sell as many devices as they can, as soon as possible. The tactic of generating demand by delay would severely backfire and cost them the whole company i am sure. When they announce that they are ready, whenever that might be, you can bet, they will be ready... or they will have serious consequences.
