Group sms/texting?? Does anyone know if it's possible to send a group SMS/text message w/ the Pre? I know that the Pre doesn't have the capability to categorize your contacts into groups (and send a text msg to a group)... but I don't believe the Iphone has this capability either (wife has Iphone). BUT... on the Iphone, if u initially send a mass text (individually add each contact in a group)... u can use that same stored outgoing text msg (w/ all the contacts already added), to send more txt msgs to the group. My wife showed me this on her Iphone... and I thought that the Pre would have the capability to do the same thing (since SMS's look basically the same on both phones). So much for that idea! Once u initially send a mass text (individually add each contact in a group)... the Pre doesn't save that outgoing group text msg... rather, it automatically splits up & saves that outgoing text msg to EACH PERSON in the group. Now, I don't have 1 outgoing group txt msg... but 10 outgoing individual txt msgs! Sux, cuz I text groups very often... and to do add each contact manually, w/ every mass text... geez! NEED A SHORTCUT!!! IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO DO THIS ON THE PRE?

Gotta give it to ya, Walt... Very creative idea, and the thought process seemed like that could actually work! But hey... it was worth a try! Thanks. Guess we just gotta be patient and wait it out... Hope developers realize all they have to do, is make it possible to save your initial outgoing mass text msg. Then, we can just use that same text msg... going fwd.
Piss. I feel like a jackass now. The next best thing would be to copy the message before you send it to recipient #1 and paste it in the rest of your convo's.

The way I text to a group is bring up the messaging icon tap the plus sign as if you were going to send a new message, type three letters of the name, select the name then type three more letters of a name ans so on, type message then send. If that not what your talking about then I'm lost, but tried
bingo, thats what i do...dont know why others didnt realize this....ive used it for up to 15 people for a mass text...it just becomes a pain in the you know what because when you type multiple names, the contact selection gets smaller and smaller...
DSG and Desi... the problem isn't mass texting... the problem is GROUP texting. If you text the same group of 15 people on a VERY FREQUENT basis, w/ the same text msg... it's tedious and cumbersome to have to enter the 15 names, EVERY SINGLE TIME i have to send the group a txt msg. the frustrating thing is that cell phones from 4yrs ago, could do group texting! (ability to organize contacts into groups... and then, send a text msg to a group, by selecting the group, instead of selecting 15 different names) what took me 15 secs to send a group text on a cell phone from 4 yrs ago... takes me 5 mins on the latest phone now! i've pointed out that the iphone can't categorize ur contacts into groups... but at least, it saves ur outgoing mass text msg previously sent... so that u can re-use that same one (w/ all the contacts already entered), to send more msgs (w/o having to re-enter any contacts). pre developers... please make this simple update!!
Good Post! I was hoping the Pre had this feature as well. I was searching the phone to see if we could add certain contacts into groups for the purpose of sending mass texts to them because I send the same text to about 5-10 people that play basketball a few times a week. I wanted to make a group of "baller" contacts but no go on the pre. I hope they make this feature available just for the conveinence. Loving this phone though, alot more pros than cons! Keep the updates coming Palm!
