    this....

If I want to port my number to prepaid and wait a month... I can become a "NEW" customer and get a way better deal on new phones. Or get my husband to put an account in his name.

I think, for the quality of phone the Pre is, 199 is definitely reasonable. There's no telling the kind of price tag current Sprint customers might get, or if you purchase it from a third party retailer though.

I do agree with the opinion that it sucks how phone companies tend to give their current customers the raw end of the deal. But that's how it goes, I guess.

Do you mean after all the discounts? If before, yes. If after.......not sure - might go for the iPhone instead. I like Sprint, they have been good to me. But if my end price is too high then the Pre will be out for sure.

Wait, you lost me, PNH. Are you saying that if, after all of the discounts, the net price of the Pre is $149 you will look at the iPhone? :gasp: I think I missed something, but that's how I read it. Most everythingpre pundits expect the Pre to be about twice that after all discounts.

    Best,

I am considering passing on it if the initial price is what I consider "too high." I might just hang on and wait to see if time (and a bad launch price decision) contribute to the price being lowered. But time will tell - times are too hard economically to fork out money without giving it serious thought.

Regarding the price in this economy... I drive a truck all over this great nation... In the 48 states I see, I see parking lots filled every day at various malls and big box stores. I'm excited about this product, however, I don't think I'm going to rush out to get one right away... Not because of the price, I just want to see how it works.

I came to Sprint from AT&T/Cingular, where I had a 650p... that I got used... I was amazed at what it could do. When I came over to Sprint, I picked up a Moto Q, that I got a "deal" on... It wasn't a month before I was in a Sprint store paying full boat for a 755p.

You will find, people who have these devices will pay the money, if not only for the fact that it's a new device... or they always have to have the latest and greatest.

With that said, I did have the app on my phone that was like the Pre... I don't recall what it's called, I only had it a short time, I didn't like it. I would hope that the Pre is heads and tails better than the app, otherwise I might find myself being disappointed in it. So I plan to play for a while at the sprint store before I jump in.

Interesting you bring this up. I was just talking about the recession over Easter dinner with the family last night and I brought up the fact that it seems like no matter what restaurant I try to go to in my area, I almost always have to wait to get in. Wouldn't expect that to be the case given the state of our economy, but it's a constant theme here. It's a very strange recession indeed.

That is soooo unbelievably true. This generation needs stuff. Even if it's going to dinner. I have to wait 2 hours to go into chilis. That never used to be before nov. People want to buy things. I fomercial sales have skyrocketed because people can't just go without we just need new things...that leaves the storage companies at an alltime high cuz we don't know what to do with all our stuff. Either way I am getting this phone.
