    invisibleShield vs. TouchStone

I've had one of those invisibleSheilds for my iPod to protect it from scratches for some time, and have considered getting something similar for the Pre.

Does anyone know if the shield, or something similar, would prevent the TouchStone from working? My guess is yes.

    Thoughts?

I would think it wouldn't prevent it from working. The only effect it should have is speed or hinderance thereof....I am stoked to see what ALL will be available!

you said vs Touchstone.....is the touchstone not the charger? is is a case of sorts?

I probably phrased the subject wrong. Just curious if these kind of screens would prevent the touchstone from charging the pre.

I think if this is a case you are talking about it would probably have to be removed.

My suggestion is to do what I am going to be doing to my Pre. I have a friend who owns a window tinting place and they sell clear *tint* (for lack of a better word) that is supposed to be used for a love bug shield for the bumpers and backside of mirrors on autos. He cuts it perfectly for the touchscreen on the phone (he has an iphone). It seems to work great and I'm sure it can be used to protect the back of the phone also. You can't even tell its on his.

    Just a thought

I think invisibleshield makes a screen protector for the iPhone, so it should not be a problem. I've had one of the screen protectors before and it was great.

I've been meaning to get some more for my other electronic products.

Shouldn't at all. A screen protector covers the viewable area only. The Touchstone charges the battery through a special back battery cover (included with Touchstone itself).

I'd put money on the fact that invisible shield works just fine with the touchstone..
the induction charging is based on proximity which is why you can have it plastic to plastic with the sonic care toothbrush,
adding the shield would only had milimeters of distance, not enough to disrupt the magnetic field.
The purpose of the different battery cover is to allow the phone to stay in place on the touchstone at the angle via magnets...I'm guessing its a plastic vs metal battery cover.

    Btw..
I went a little crazy when searching for the plastic film for my gps and possibly my car..
I bought invisibleshield, best skins ever, the other major competitor..
as well as 12''x12'' films direct from 3m, ventureshield, an ebay generic sell, etc etc to see the difference..
basically there isn't and the only reason to go with Zagg or Best skins ever..is because they cut it much nicer than you can (zagg uses 3M and BSE i think does too.. I actually liked the venture shield slightly better but i'm not sure who cuts that to spec. BSE is cheaper.
i think its a definate for the phone..at least the screen.

For the price of the shields...like 15-30 bucks to cover the whole phone, I don't see how anyone can go wrong. That little to protect your 600$ investment...

In regards to charging via Touchstone with a shield...I cannot forsee any problems. Like comets said, it will only add Milimeters to the device and I cannot expect that the charging would be interrupted by such a minute size difference.

    Not an expert though...

The Touchstone charger operates via magnetic induction. I'm pretty sure the InvisibleShield plastic will not interfere. I think InvisibleShields are fantastic, and I don't intend on touching my Pre until the Shield arrives.

Although I agree with most that there is not likely to be a problem with Invisiblesheild, you may want to contact them and just ask if they have tested it yet. I am sure they would be happy to help. If they have already spent time creating the sheild, they must be assured it will work.

    Back cover included with Touchstone?

MonkeyXplosion - you said the special back battery cover needed for the Pre to work with Touchstone will be included with Touchstone. Is that confirmed? I've heard lots of rumors and speculation about that special battery cover, but haven't seen any confirmed reports that it was included with Touchstone. That would be great if it was. Tell me that this bundling has been confirmed!

Is somebody already selling InvisibleShield or the like for the Pre? If so, who?

Just wanted to throw out there, if anyone is still looking at purchasing Invisishield, it's been the best screen I've found thus far, and here's a coupon if you purchase before May 27th: "memday09"

    I went to http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/palm-pre-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php

to purchase, and just got it for $15.47 with basic shipping. I did basic since I figured I have another two weeks before the Pre comes out, but now I'm wondering if they are going to wait until the 6th to ship. If so that kind of sucks... since I'd really like to have it asap so I don't end up with *any* scratches on my phone!

    Clear coat

Check this out, I found this on ebay. Already ordered mine so I have for Junes 6th. [IMG][IMG]Clear-Coat Scratch Protection this link will take you to an ebaty store, just look up clear coat for palm Pre.
  16. seraphemz New Member

Um... i dont see a Pre one, and why pay 24.00 when you could pay a little more than half with the coupon code that is provided.
  17. Pre-Driver New Member

If you type Pre in the store search it will show you the Pre clear coat. It's 19.99 w/ free shipping. But if you found it cheaper thats cool, this is just what I found. I really liked the demo it showed, seems like a good product.

I've used invisiARMOR . It covers front and back. Got a window tinting place that puts it on. phenominal stuff and very inexpensive. ($20)
  19. I'm debating on whether I'll put the invisible shield for the back panel on the Touchstone one or not. Seeing as how it's a matte finish, I might just put the shield on the cover that comes with the phone and set it aside. We'll see though. :)

I ordered one of these. I'll let you guys know how it works out.
