I saw this at another forum (treocentral.com). If this is the phone I would definitely consider centro 2.

I'm fairly certain that is just a photoshopped Pre with a Centro keyboard

It is absolutely photoshopped. I should have mentioned that. But the idea is that the new phone would have 150% the current centro screen size with virtual navigation buttons and fully available qwerty keyboard.

Here's a photo via Blurrycam of what's rumored to be the next gen Palm Centro or mini-Pre.

LOL u can see the centro's buttons on the left side badly photoshopped. Time, signal strength and battery life(TOP) are pasted on the solid surface :tounge:

I think i'd rather have a pre than a centro-ish phone using web OS. I just like the slider qwerty a bit better.

I think that this is a good sign for Palm. If they are able to get another WebOS device into the market this year at a fairly low price point that could be the right level of penetration to bring on even more devs. It is all about the apps at that point.

I think I'll stick with the Pre, but this looks like an attractive option for one group of people... Slider-Haters, or those who are worried about fragility.

i would also opt for the original pre, i like the slider function too. the last "slider" i had was the sony ericsson and it swung to either side, big huge bulky, heavy phone....but cool features for its time nonetheless...haha

    i want the pre!

or blackberry users (storm and pearl flip aside)

I think it's great that Palm is already planning other devices that will use WebOS. Increased market penetration can only be a good thing for developer support.

Definitely a Photoshop pic... the boys at TC forums have always been famous for that when speculation of a new Treo was about to hit...

The one thing that drew me to palm and treo in the first place is that they were not flip phones, like every other phone back when I was buying my first treo (the 650). I also never really liked the sliders. But seeing pictures of the pre from the side with it in it's "open position" i was sold. it looks like it will fit into one's hand so nicely. just aesthetically it looks so much nicer than most sliders and even the palm centro.

I'm really torn now. I like how both phones look but "thinness" is a big issue with me. I hate carrying around a "brick" in my pocket with it bulging out just waiting to be smacked against a table or something. I'm going to have a really hard time deciding when the Pre makes its debut if this is in fact their next WebOS product. The 4 gb memory is also a deterrent.

I'm still stuck on Pre. I'm wondering why the divide and conquer technique was employed? A two-sided attack against the iPhone seems ill advised unless it's just a strategic diversion.

    Don't you mean 8gb memory:unsure:

I like the original design of the Pre better than this Centro-Pre hybrid. I like that the keyboard is an option to pull out and not always there to hit.

While this looks cool, it really pisses me off how the Pre isn't even out, but they're already working on a Pre successor or a "mini Pre". This is only going to hurt the sales of the Pre, because the group of people that'd rather have this phone more than the Pre, will now just wait and not buy the Pre. How dumb must a company be to release stories of the successor before it releases the original itself? Gah! Palm is making me upset lately with delayed Pre releases, letting the new iPhone take even more of it's thunder. Anyways. I'm waiting for the Pre semi-patiently

I think he/she meant the EOS not the Pre. the EOS is only supposed to have 4GB on board.

I agree, but there haven't been any actual delays to the pre.. palm has never said when it's coming and neither have sprint and all we know is "first half of 09" it's still the first half. I'll admit it feels like delays because of all the release date rumors but in reality neither company has "lied" to us yet... and I really agree with you on the EOS... we know more about that phone than we do about the Pre! how much it costs, full specs.. it's shenanigans at its best. if the EOS is real and plans to be launched just after the pre, I'll send palm a nice little package in the mail addressed to "morons in PR dept." and guess what it'll be...
