When I bought a Handspring Somethingsomething a little under 10 years ago I delighted in keeping it safe and dry in my otterbox [otterbox.com]. Every time I hear the word 'case' associated with the Pre I think of how indestructible my monochrome, 256KBish handheld was, and how it would sooo not fit in my pocket.

    Best,

My father-in-law just visited and dropped off a box of outdated tech. In the box was an old Handspring Visor. I told him I'd add it to my gadget museum. Have to get my brother to return my original Palm Pilot.:tounge:

This will be the key for me. Something to keep it safe, yet still be easy to get in and out of my pocket. At least the pockets of a pair of slacks, or shorts (maybe not jeans).

I love the body glove hard case for our 2 Samsung M520s, they are durable and don't inhibit slider function. I hope the pre cases are similar to this.

I have never carried my Treo 600 or 650 in a case. I have always used a screen protector. I didn't even consider a case until I bought my 3g iPhone and I use a Vaja case for it and carry it in a Palm treo horizontal holster, the one with business / credit card card place inside. If I get the Pre I will probably carry it in a similair horizontal holster with nothing on the Pre except a screen protector.

I have never used a case for my Q or Q9C, but I do have this special little pocket in my purse that is lined with satin and the only thing allowed to go in there is my phone. Although i still would be interested in a non-obtrusive hard case, i am sure I will still be using that little pocket.

This phone is so well-crafted that I don't know if a hard case could do it justice. A silicone case or slip pocket case would probably do it for me.

ill be holding out for a spring clip holster from my old buddies at Seidio. i have one of their rubberized ones for my htc phone now and i LOVE it. best holster, hands down IMO.

Wow, you got me thinking... I wonder if I still have my orig. U.S.R. PalmPilot???

I lent mine to my brother years ago. I'm hoping his still has it, so I can add to my informal tech museum. I still have to pick up a Treo 180 off eBay, since I sold my original. I do have my Treo 300 and my Handspring Visor.:laugh3:

I hate carrying around cases on my belt. I have several for my blackberry but they're all just annoying.

And aftermarket cases are either too expensive or just plain cheap, which makes me wanna buy one even less.

I hope the pre case will be bearable because I'd hate to drop my brand new phone and scratch the LCD.

You would probably see a grown-man cry.

    I agree about belt cases!
That's why my Pre will have scratch protective film on it!

    Pre Cases

I think it should come with a case that somehow does not attract all the dirt or sweat or makeup or whatever is on your face.

    Hard Leather Cases

I've used Zagg's Invisible Shield, a great value to protect the screen. That coupled with a Vaja hard leather case which was ridiculously priced and took weeks to ship, but has certainly served me very well; five years to be exact. In the grocery/wine business, my phone gets "tagged" a whole lot with carts, boxes, bottles, etc. Recently searching the Internet there are so many that have copied Vaja's case at half the price. I may go that route in these harder economic times but it's hard to part with what has been succesful. Vaja is already taking customized requests for the Pre for existing customers.

I love the slider function, but i have never seen a hard case or a silicone case for a cellphone with a slider function, maybe I´m missing something here! Can somebody help me?

WOW-I'm with glsda. Only screen protectors here too. I wouldn't want anything inhibiting the slider function as it's not your "normal" slider. If anything silicone would also work for me as it could move out of the way alot easier and faster, if necessary due to the angle of the slide itself.

One of my friends has the HTC Tilt/Kaiser and he has a few hard cases for it. The case is split into two parts that cover each half, which allows it to slide open and closed.

I would love to carry it in my shirt pocket if small enough with just a screen protector but I would be parinoid about bending over and having it fall out of my pocket and on to or into whatever. So it will go in the horizontial holster mentioned in my last post.

I have always liked a flip-cover style case like those from EB or Sena. Not sure if that will be available for the Pre. A few times I have dropped my Treo on the floor or parking lot. Having the case provided some protection.

Cases also help keep up the resale value!
