Phone feels hot all the time.. I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with my phone or battery. The thing is hot even when doing nothing. My battery went from 89% to 52% in little over an hour doing NOTHING!!! I have turned everything off that is recommended, turned down brightness, etc. shut applications, turn screen off when not in use. Really frustrating. It shouldn't be hot when idle for an hour.
Was the lower back part of the pre that feels hot? If so, I have the same problem and I don't think it is the battery. I opened up the back cover to check, the batter was warm but not hot. but the lower part of my pre is extremely hot.
same here. yesterday i popped the back cover off and felt that it wasn't the battery but it was the space below it that was very hot when not in use. this morning it is much better and not hot (but still luck warm, much warmer than my mogul) but battery consumption is still draining quickly. unplugged from charger around 745 and now at 1000 with no use at all, i'm at 50%.
Have you guys updated to 1.0.2? Fixed my phone heat related issues. It's still a little warm (sometimes) but before it was almost scalding hot.
Mine is doing this too... When I was using the telenav while it was plugged into the car charger, the thing was almost scalding... I am finding when the signal strength is low, it tends to keep pretty warm as well... I wonder if this heat problem is a known or acceptable issue with Palm?? non of the Pre released reviews mention it, but then again, perhaps this is why people were not allowed to hold it Huh? Its one of the biggest concerns I have with the phone at this point...
I don't have these issues... I am also using a BB charger to charge my phone (same micro USB end). I remember when I did charge with the Pre charger, it got hot. Let me try that again and see what happens.
Under Device Info, I see that I have WebOS 1.02 - It was Preinstalled out of the box... but I am still getting pretty significant heat issues and battery drains; not all the time, but mostly when I'm roaming or have a week signal
Same issue here too. All of my app's are closed and my screen it warm...almost hot. My battery drained down to 56% after 3 hours of not using it. I have Sprint only network selected and I have full bars. Not sure what is going on. I hope they figure out a solution soon, otherwise it's going back and I switch over to AT&T.
mine was not pre installed either. I had to check for updates. I just tried to remove my hotmail acct and am going to use my gmail. Someone said in a different thread having a push email vs. a pull email might be an issue. I'm not sure what the difference is but I remember reading that the hotmail was one that used more battery. Anybody remember reading that????
I am having this issue as well. I noticed it yesterday. I had been in a shopping mall and a call came in. When I answered it, I noticed that the phone was extremely warm and that the battery was almost dead (and I had terrible reception, 0 bars and the call dropped a few seconds in). The phone was completely charged when I left the house a couple of hours earlier. I let the battery go completely dead and charged it overnight (using the plug-in charger). This morning it seems to be doing ok. The phone is not warm and the battery does not seem to be rapidly draining.
Hot I had the same issues with battery life and heat. Changed email checking for gmail, att and netzero to the following: g=30 min, att=1 hr, net=6 hours. battery life improved and heat issue disappears unless I charge using USB. Remains fairly cool using touchstone
Mine only gets really hot when its charging and im using it. Other than that its fine. But all my phone have gotten hot while charging and using, so I thought that this is normal.
You may have location services on? and what about wifi? Bluetooth? how many email accounts are installed? there is a thread floating around that talks about how to reduce demand on battery...
I have OS updated and Wifi, BT and GPS turned off, no application is running. at standby, my phone burns around 1% of the charge per minute. There has to be something wrong. Talked to my friend and compared the configuration of our phones. I only thing different is that I have HOTMAIL setup and he doesn't. I removed hotmail account last night, so far, I haven't had a draining like I experienced yesterday. (I am not saying this is the solution, but worth to try it out) That being said, I am still not happy with the overall battery life. You folks should try to remove your Hotmail account and see if that helps.
