Pre: Fact sheet In the Box,Battery Life... I Re-typed these from sprint gurus leaked doc: What´s in the box? 1.-Palm Pre phone and pouch. 2.-Removable Lithium Ion (Li-ion) Battery (1150mAh) 3.-AC Traveller Charger w/adapter. 4.-Micro USB sync card. 5.-Carrying Case. 6.-Stereo Headset. 7.-Features Guide. 8.-Get Started Guide 9.- Palm warranty. 10.-End User License Agreement
Battery Life IMPORTANT NOTE: Battery Life depends on individual use. Comsumption factors include signal strength, speakerphone use, and use of wireless features. In addition, talk time is slighty lower when roaming on the cellular 800 MHz band. 1.- Standard rechargeable Lithium Ion ( Li-Ion) Battery. 2.- Digital mode continuos talk time 4.0 hours. (to 5.0 hours) 3.- Digital mode standly time: 200 hours. 4.- Charges via USB
i have such a feeling that battery life is going to be horrible for this phone... im just hoping i can get a day out of it but i dont think ill be able to. Im most likely going to need to look into getting an extended battery hopefully something around 2000 mah
Respecting your opinion In my case with a 1200 mAh battery in my Treo 680 that I use it everday for a lot of working, calls etc I never had to get an upgrade new battery at all. Now that I am using this mimic Pre launcher soft Teal Os I thought maybe bringing this cards up and with one step more to get the launcher , these could consume more energy, but not all.
The battery has some sort of power managment chip right on it so that will help with battery life right there. If they are "rating" it for 4 hours of talk time, I would expect that to last a good 24 hours under a moderate/medium workload. If you are going to be using this as a primary work device and need real-time e-mail push, you may have to spring for one of the new Palm car chargers Sprint stores will be carrying at launch. Other MicroUSB chargers apparently will not work, but I can neither confirm/deny this or tell you where I heard it from. ;-)
I have to make a correction on original posted thread. There is some kind of info inconsistence in the same FACT SHEET between Features Hardware and Battery Life. The first one shows 5 hours and second one shows 4 hours. Which is correct?
on a side note I'd just like to say I'm glad sprint is standardizing all the charger ports to micro USB.. it makes things a lot easier for both the stores and customers. that is all. lol
In all the discussion of battery life, we really don't know the power requirements of WebOS, which, I'm assuming, is more power efficient than WinMo. Also, I don't know how the processor saves on power compared to other units. If someone has the technical knowledge and can speak to these issues, that would be very interesting to hear.
I'll tell ya one thing, WinMo makes my phone's battery it's bitch every single day the week and twice on Sundays (and I have a 3500mah extended battery). Any improvement will be welcome.
My GF keeps her Centro's BT and push email on 24/7 and she gets about 2 1/2 days on a charge... my Treo 700p with bigger battery and no BT on can go about a full day if my email prog dosent hang or the sig strength doesn't get crappy... which is also gonna be a factor with the Pre with all of us... If you are in a low/weak signal area, all phones have to use more power in order to keep contact with the towers... my concern is gonna be the GPS and WiFi battery demands...
The processor 3430 is brand new for everyone. It is the first phone in the world with this 3430 I don´t know if someone has a review with this processor working, maybe in other gadgets. OMAP3430 - 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX 530 GPU + 430MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)
I usually charges my Treo battery everyday in the morning ,although I have 43% left charge. Charging everyday keeps your battery hardware life and no needs for replace it.
Actually not letting your phone discharge fully depletes the batteries half-life etc.. read up on it.. for batteries to get the full capacity etc it needs to discharge then recharge.
Exactly.... We are not talking 1998 NiMH batteries here... LI-ION prefers staying in the 40%-60% charged range, that's how Prius batteries last 10 years+... Now with cell phone batteries, if you let it go to no lower than 40% then charge back to 100% EVERY time, your battery would probably last 3+ years. Instead 0-5% back to 100% you are looking about 18 month life.
as long as it can last a day with heavy texting and light internet/phone use ill be happy. My Diamond can usually last a day/ day and a half so im fine with that. The employee at my local sprint store that has player with it said that they were getting a day/day and a half on pretty heavy use in the store so id be happy with that.
