Sure looks like a burn spot that you'd see caused by a hot bulb/light. Does it go away after its turned off awhile. People with the problem are acknowledging the issue but its on the back burner to everyone else who doesn't have the problem. I don't believe anyone knows why this happens to some Pre's and not others. No official response from Palm as far as I know regarding this burning discoloration, and it is a widespread problem. I'd take it back for sure and get a replacement and hope that one doesn't have the same problem.*
I dunno, I just got it yesterday and haven't turned it off yet. My phone's usually stay on all the time.
Im getting it too. Whats funny is that i called Sprint about it and they said they hadnt heard about it. But I can plainly see it. They opened a ticket and said that I can take it in... which I plan to do and get it replaced... ( thank god since I got my first scratch on it....lol ) Edit: i forgot to mention that I see it when the phone is hot. Gone when its no being used.
I had to swap out phomes today since my screen quit working. The new phone they gave me has the discoloration.
I just noticed the white blotches on the bottom of my pre. I definitely see it on Pandora. I hadn't really noticed it until I saw it mentioned in the forums and looked real closely. Am I suppose to take it to the Sprint store I bought it at or can I take it to any Sprint. I didn't buy it a a Sprint Owned Store. I bought it at the Sprint THe Customer Solution Store( Use to be Nextel stores) by they are not corporate. If they don't have any, which are my options? Is this really a problem I should return for?
It's always there...regardless of the phone's temperature. At the last minute, I asked the guy if he had any more Pres since I wasn't comfortable with the discoloration. He said he's gonna place an order for a new phone for me so I don't end up with a refurbished model (wtf?). Anyway, I get to use the "discolored" Pre until that one arrives. I'm a little concerned since the guy didn't give me a receipt or anything to prove he's ordering me a new phone. I guess I'll wait a week, and I haven't heard back, I'll call. Assuming I get a new Pre, here's hoping it escapes any issues.
Just got my launch day Pre replaced, once it finishes downloading my backed-up data I'll have to see if my screen is still discolored. Something I didn't notice until turning on the phone in the darkness of my home theatre.. massive light leaking around the screen, on both sides. It's as if the LCD is glued to the outer shell and it has ripped away from that, letting light get out places it shouldn't. Ghost armor is making a killing off me with how often my devices get replaced. Guess that's what I get for being an early adopter. edit: screen is still discolored. *sigh*
I had the same problem the screen on the left and bottom right was leaking light, this is my 2nd pre so far, and now this one has a dot like there is a whole in the screen, not to mention still the bottom leaks light, i am going to get a 3rd tomorrow, i hope i dont have to do this a couple of more times, i hope 3rd times the charm. It's an amazing phone, its just the quality is very disappointing.
