    Speed Dial on Palm Pre?

I have been reading and looking at the video reviews of the pre.
I love on my Centro one touch speed dial. I can't seem to find any mention of that feature. I know the iphone does not have that capability.

Surprisingly, the one app that did not get a lot of attention was the dialer/phone app. I fully expect picture caller ID and speed dial. However, the current build is not finished and the phone app in particular. I didn't see a call log, speed dial, etc. This will definitely show up in the shipping product, but I think it's not finished at this point based upon what I saw at CES.

Interesting. I had the impression that this was ready to go, now it's sounding like vaporware...apparently not real close to being ready. Which extends the Sprint exclusive since, if it's based on x number of months, it won't begin until shipment....clearly trying to hold off the storm...heh heh. Pun intended.

It's far from vaporware. It's an extremely polished OS. I watched probably 4-5 hours of demos. It was extremely stable, on par with the stability of the iPhone.

It's not the Pre that will be rushed, it was the Storm that was rushed.

Thanks, Chris. One thing I'm wrestling with is which one to wait for, and maybe the word for now is to just wait. The BB is purported to have problems, I've not really read much on that yet...so that probably means upgraded hardware will come. The Pre isn't Verizon...so neither one help me much now! Patience, patience....argh.

For me, BlackBerry's best to offer is the Bold. Not sure if that is headed to Verizon or Sprint. I remember writing something about it a few weeks back. Right now, AT&T has the exclusive on the Bold.

    The way it's shaping up:
    Sprint - Palm Pre
    Verizon - BlackBerry Storm
    AT&T - iPhone 3G
    T-Mobile - G1

Those will be the heavyweights for the foreseeable future.

To me the best thing for Palm to have done would be to come up with dual radio job that would work on either cdma or gsm from the same device, or do a simultaneous release of cdma and gsm models.

Well here we are 4 days after release and no speed dial. Either that or I'm too confused to find it

there is a speed dial, palm just sent out an e-mail on how, but i'll paste it here,

Tip #3: Creating a speed dial
While viewing a person’s contact info, tap Set Speed Dial from the application menu. Next tap the phone number and then tap the number key you wish to use as the speed dial. Now from either the Launcher, Card View or Phone, simply press and hold the speed dial key to make your call.

When you open one of your contacts touch the top left portion of the screen. It should give you a menu, set speed dial is there. After speed dial is set you just hold down speed dial number in phone mode.

Palm just send out an email and this is one of the tips. Go to the contact and you can do it by options. Very easy.
