    Sprint/BB/Radio Shack/Walmart Info by City/State UPDATED

If you are going to make a post here for your city please keep the same format starting with the city and state name first. I would like to keep this posting as clear cut and precise as possible.

    Houston, TX

I live in Houston TX and I have not seen much information regarding my area here so I did want to give a heads up to anyone here living in the Greater Houston area.

All information below is based on Monday June 1st. I am pretty sure things will change towards the end of the week and I will update accordingly.

    Houston Sprint Stores

-All of the Houston area Corporate stores will have them in Stock. As of Monday June 1st 4 out of the 6 stores I called are not opening early. (This could be due to the fact that they are getting Large shipments and are not worried about shortages)--which is a good thing.

-No Houston stores are doing a June 5 afterhours or midnight sales of the Pre.

-All are sticking to the Mail in Rebate spill, but Palm.com recently changed the wording on they website to indicate the phone would be $199 with rebate and service agreement. (My inclination is that Sprint WILL offer an instant rebate regardless of what the stores are saying now).

-There are no Pre-Order List or deposits and if someone told you that you were on a list then it makes no difference. If there are 50 phones in stock and you are the 51st person in line but on a waiting list...Guess what "No Pre Fo You!"

NON Corporate Stores (Update June 2nd)
Several Houston area Non Corporate stores are getting Units and they ARE TAKING wait list! If you get on the list they will call you when there stock comes in so you can purchase. If they have their stock on Friday then they will sell it to you on FRIDAY.:tounge: One store in particular---takes a $100 deposit which will guarantee you a phone on Friday/Saturday. (If you live in Houston and want details pm me). The only downfall in this is that you still have to do the "MIR"

    Best Buy Stores

-Most of the stores will have less than 10 units on hand. They are all on a first come, first serve basis. Majority of the stores I talked to say they will have only 4 or 5 but there is one with 24 orders on file(not sure they will get that many though). There are no Pre-Order List for phones at Best Buy, if you were told so then once again you are taking a chance if you expect them not to sell a phone that is there and ready to buy.

-I called 7 Houston areas stores and only one said they are opening early. This is bad news for most because IF the Sprint Stores open at 9am but you wait until 10am for a Best Buy store to open, your playing Rush and Roulette because of Best Buys low stock of units. Plan your strategy accordingly.

-Of course every knows about the instant rebate so the phone will be priced at $199 with 2yr agreement.

    Walmart
I have tried and tried to get information on what stores will carry the Pre on June 6th and have not been able to get ANY information in regards to that. If you have info....please let us know. When trying to use the Customer Service email on Walmart.com the page just refreshes constantly after hitting submit. And not to belittle any Walmart employees that check out these forums, but I think we all know the level of "intelligence" for lack of a better word...that they seem to have. Most do not even know what the Pre is yet alone whether or not their store will offer it.

    Radio Shack
NO Radio Shacks in Houston will carry the Pre. If you have conflicting information please post, but according to the Radio Shack listings here and speaking with several stores directly--No local area stores will be apart of the initial launch.

    Sacramento Area:

    Sprint Stoes - Yes
Best Buy - No (I guess the only BBY's near us that even sell sprint are in the bay area (i.e. San Fran/Oakland)
    Radioshack/Walmart - No clue.

Funny thing though, I know of a best buy that IS selling palm pre's tomorrow, but they only have 2 onhand. I plan on spending the night in front of that particular BBY.
