    Touchstone not charging

I left my Pre on my touchstone overnight and guess what.. my battery went from 50% to 6% after 10 hours. Anyone else having a charging problem with the touchstone?

couple quick things to look at.

-1. Plug the Touchstone in.... ;)
    1. Did you put the new charger back on the pre?
    2. When you put the phone on the Touchstone does it make a sound and say charging?

There are are a few cases where the magnets on the stone don't align the pre based on the angle you set it down on. This doesn't go to say that almost every angle works but a select few. Simply lift if up and put it back down. Make sure the chime sounds, and it says charging. You should be golden.

Having the same trouble. I noticed that if the battery is lower than 30% the unit will charge on the touchstone, but it will not charge to 100%. Any luck "realigning" the unit?

You should definitely hear a chime when the charging begins, and the screen changes to display the clock. You may want to flip the Touchstone upside down if that doesn't work -- sad to say it, but that was my issue when I had probs charging!

And don't keep an emergency stash of cash under the back. I have always kept a $50 in there and when I got my Touchstone not thinking just put it right back . Couldn't get it to connect and then the light bulb went off Duh is me.

Also make sure the Micro connector is all the way in . It seems like you should only have about 1/4 inch sticking out of the black piece .

BWAW! That's hilarious... I feel just as dumb, but now I have company. :laugh3:

That said, it sounds like a decent place to store some secret cash (but if you get robbed, I imagine the phone goes along with the wallet). I've never heard of that before. Back in my day, we put it in our shoes/socks!

I posted this elsewhere, but I'm still wondering why the Pre went dead while on a voice call without a warning (just a tone to let me know when it disconnected the call and shut down), and why when you plug it directly in to AC to charge, it's not ready to boot or make a call for at least 5 minutes from what I can tell. It makes the issue of going dead w/o warning exponentially worse because not only did you get cutoff mid sentence on your call, but now you can't call your friend back for 5 minutes because the phone will not boot unless it's been charging for a while!

Well I just inverted the phone, and tried to position it in every direction...no luck...
I guess I will need to get over to my Sprint store for a replacement. :(
I also removed and reinserted the battery cover to make sure it was providing the proper contact.

I really hope Trooper54's post was sarcastic rather than serious :) i'm sure there are people out there that might need guidance like that, but come on now. Yes I plugged it in yes I had the back on yes the charge lighting bolt was on ... However, I wasn't able to charge by usb either only using the ac adapter and the sprint car charger. The usb port did the same thing ran it down until I got a red battery on the screen and couldn't boot it.

Hey, when my phone wasnt charging I had to take out the battery and reboot the phone. Try taking out the battery, then putting it back in but not turning on the phone...then just let it charge for a while. Once I turned my phone back on after a few minutes it was working fine. My guess is that there's a bug that prevents the phone from reading the charger sometimes. A reboot should fix it temporarily.

I have to turn the Touchstone and the Pre upside down and turn the Pre sideways on the charger to get it to charge. Phone works great but this sucks. Now it's working, oh wait, now it's not. Why?!?!

I tried turning the Pre every which way, all I get is the constant chiming and no charge. I am about to return it for a hamster and a wheel, less noise.:frown:

I just got my touchstone today. I had a multi wall outlet that included usb's and so I wasn't using the ac adapter from palm. When I plugged my touchstone in it wouldn't charge. I quickly switched the usb into the palm provided ac adapter and the touchstone started working exactly as it should. I don't know if any of you are using the ac adapter but if not try it out and see if that gets you charging.

I just started having the "no charging" issue with my Touchstone yesterday. I have two Touchstones, one at home by my bed and one at work.

    • Thinking it might be the Touchstone at work that crapped out, I tried the one at home. Nothing.
    • Thinking it might be the back cover (magnet/contacts assembly), I swapped the back cover with an extra one I had. Nothing.
    • Thinking the Pre might be confused, I did a reset. Nothing.
I guess now I'm convinced there is something internal to the Pre that has decided to become cranky and not recognize the Touchstone.

So now I'm going to drag the two Touchstones, two chargers and cables, and two back covers along with the Pre to the Sprint store. Hopefully they'll just replace the phone!

I still am getting the "no charge" chime once and awhile. But have found if I take the Pre on and off the Touchstone several times eventually it will work. It will be interesting to see what Sprint has to say.

Touchstone had been working fine. Come in this morning and the phone wasnt charging all night. It just would not charge with the touchstone- via usb was fine. Reboot and it works again. The phone had been up without a restart with no problems for 2 weeks before the other day and now this.

I have numerous charging issues as well. One thing I noticed about the plug into the outlet is that it comes out very easily. The other issue is that I do have with it though, all things are plugged in tightly and then it still doesnt always charge. I have uplugged it, plugged it in manually(then that works), but still the touchstone will not work, I even feel the click of the magnet even as I slide it around to get the proper seating, still nothing.

Same here srlake314. I also have to unplug and replug my car charger multiple times to get the Pre to recognize the charger. If I forget to wait for the chime/vibration I can get screwed.
This is my 2nd Pre and the first did most of this too aside from the touchstone problems.

I have a USB charger that came with my headset that I use to charge my Pre at night. I also have to wait for the "chime" before turning off my Pre when I plug it in or it won't charge. I think it is the output amps. I don't know what the Pre specs are, but if you use a charger that doesn't output enough amperage, then the Pre doesn't like it. I found that Blackberry chargers work wonderfully in the car.
