May not seem like much... but...

To be honest, the Touchstone charger may not seem like a big deal... after all... how difficult is it to just plug in the USB cable? But I have to admit... I love it. It's just that little bit of extra convenience that seems to go a long way. Granted... it is a pretty hefty price for that little bit of convenience... but for me, it's worth it. Admittedly, I also think it's just "cool". I think the Touchstone has more unique technologies in it than the Pre itself. The inductive charging and the base's unique gecko-type surface are both things unique to the Touchstone for these devices (inductive charging has been used for years for things like electric toothbrushes). So far as the gecko adhesion, I'm not aware of anything else currently using it (although, I'm sure there are some unique applications out there I don't know about). Here's a brief excerpt on it:

The mystery of how geckos manage to scurry up walls and stick to ceilings may have been solved by scientists. It seems the little lizards have a network of tiny hairs and pads on their feet which produce electrical attractions that literally glue the animals down.
With millions of the hairs on each foot, the combined attraction of the weak electrical forces allow the gecko to stick to virtually any surface - even polished glass.
Californian researchers believe the reptile's sticky toes could now help them to develop a novel synthetic adhesive that is both dry and self-cleaning.

+1 on everything said here. However, if you use your Pre for business, the coolest thing is that when you make or receive a call, the phone is automatically in speakerphone mode if it's on the Touchstone. What a convenience! Plus, of course, it keeps that lame battery at full power most of the time.

After not have having one for the first two months, I decided to break down and buy one for the conveinence at work and I have loved it! It makes it a lot easier to charge, don't have to hunt for a cable to plug in, and I don't miss any calls, or texts with my screen in the partial glow. Also my battery never dies on days I work now because of the ease to keep it charged.

The onle thing I regret is that I did not buy one for home as well.

It took me a long time to get one bc i was skeptical and poor. But I found a good deal and am waiting for it to arrive...TOMORROW!!!

Do you leave it on the TS even after it is 100%? does it cool down after it is fully charged?

Plus, I forgot to mention how much I prefer the TS back cover to the one that comes with the phone. It's much more grippy, and it adds a nice touch of class to the device.

I leave my Pre on the TS all the time. I don't think there is any negative to doing so.

I waited to buy mine also - and I love it. I was making bets with myself on how long that little "plug" on the side of the Pre would last being pulled in and out. It is a little flimsy. The Touchstone is very convenient.

Mine comes out very easily now. Hopefully Palm will sell these for a few bucks like the other phone companies that sell OEM parts to their phones...:dft005:frazzled

I guess it is unanimous that it is worth it? lol. I also have noticed that the mini port for regular charging seems flimsy. In fact, I sometimes disconnect and have to reconnect it before it recognizes it. I guess I will get my TS. Thanks for all the input.

It's not properly centered. Reposition the phone and the repeating message will stop.
