Touchstone I just got my TS., first issue. When I place the phone the charge notification flashes on and off....Does it mean its moving to much or something?? Thanks
It means its not centered properly. Just wiggle the phone a bit until it grabs onto the touchstone good.
Thanks for your post, I have wiggled and wiggled though lol. It keeps blinking instead of just picking up. There has been only one time where it seemed to keep charging. Is it really that picky where I will have to find a certain spot?? For that, I would just use the usb.
No, it works just fine when I do that. Maybe once or twice it has not picked it up with the usb/charger. But then I just unplug and plug again and it picks it up. Its just when I do the touchstone. You think it may be the small battery issue your talking about?
I am not sure. The battery issue is known to cause the phone to turn off randomly. I have never seen someone who reported that it also was causing trouble charging with the TS. I have not searched for it though so it might very well be someone in this forum. Once you have the Pre on the TS how secure would you say the connection to the magnet is on a scale of 1 to 5? Let's say on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being not secure at all and 5 being you can pick up the Pre and the TS does not fall off.
Def. 5. I even start from the top so that it slides till it stops. And I can tell the magnet is grabbed on. The first time I set it on that day it looks like it will work but then it starts flashing. After that, it just flashes no matter how many times I take it off and put it back on.
I would take it in to the store and reproduce the problem. They might replace one of the other for you.
still no luck Well the thing is, I ordered the TS on this website. I have contacted them 3 times to try to get a refund or a replacement and they have not even replied to my emails. Some customer service.
I just bought the TS last week and have the exact same problem. It's as if the charging link is constantly breaking and remaking. Then you get the new connection alert popping up constantly. It wears down the battery faster than it recharges on vibrate mode. I'll be bringing mine back to the shop today. I'll let you know how I get on.
Well it sucks that it happened to you, but I am glad it isn't just me because it is driving me crazy. The bad thing for me is I bought on this website, and no one is helping me. I'd appreciate it if you keep me updated.
I walked into the O2 Store and as soon as I mentioned 'Touchstone', the guy say's, "Yeah, it just a position thing". In other words, "not another one" (Sucker)! Basically, Palm have designed a tempermental piece of crap. The advert that say's, "just drop it on the touchstone to charge" is well wide-of-the-mark. Apparently they have to be alligned perfectly in order to work. He showed me how to set it dead-center and perfectly vertical. Then it works. But if you are a millmeter off, you get the problem. Or if something bumps it off-center, you get the problem. It needs a bigger electro-magnetic coupling zone. That piece of crap cost just me 80 Euro, that's about US $120!! No Refund, because technically it "Works". I send my bad-karma wishes to the muppet that designed that one. You live and learn.
wow, talk about bad news. I will just cut my losses and run. I am now looking into the Powermat. http://www.powermat.com/us/mats/home-and-office-mat.html#
Huh... i guess you two got screwed. I have three of them and they work no matter what position or angle the phone is in.
That is cool, not sure what is up with mine. As soon as I put it on there, the charge message just flashes. I try making sure its secure and no luck., oh well.
I'm not sure how much of a representative sample the posters of this board are, but I would guess there's a statistically significant number of users who've had issues of varying severity with the stones. I overcame mine, and am pleased now, but it isn't as useful as I expected it would be. I won't buy a 2nd one as I once considered. I initially had the continuous connect/reconnect pinging, and it just wouldn't charge. Sprint replaced my battery and it's been reliable within certain limitations ever since. Issue 1 - I'm no longer considering one for my car as I once was. There is no way I could mount a stone the way I saw in the DIY post on the main page. I can't pick my stone up with the phone on it, or move the stone, it loses connection and makes the unhappy noises. I've never tried to hold it perpendicular, but I'm pretty sure the phone would come off with a gentle bump. Issue 2 - My stone won't charge if the phone has run completely out of power. If I run the phone til it shuts itself off (as indicated a different post), it cannot charge off the stone. I must charge off the usb. I understand that some people have been very pleased, and that's great. I also empathize with people who got lemons. It's new technology, so that happens. But I can say that because my lemon was pretty mild, I could work around it. To the OP, if you have the time, could you post about the mat? Will that work with a Pre? Or maybe in the off-topic forum if not? I'd love to stop the expense when I've lost the charger to X item. Again.
It might in fact be the battery. I have heard that some Pre's have batteries that are too small so they don't fit tight enough in the compartment. So while the magnet grabs your phone, the battery element might not be getting good contact. If they gave you a new battery and that seemed to work, that might be the trick. I have been thinking of getting another battery to see what happens. As far as the mat, I have not got it yet. But according to the website, the Pre is compatible, as well as other devices. So for those with an Ipod or other, it can charge them all at the same time. I might try fixing my stone first, and hope the mat goes down in price. Will update with a new thread if I do. Thanks for your feedback.
Redreina, You will find 98% of the time problems posted about something as opposed to good feedback. You are more opt to call Coke and yell at them when you find something wrong with it and tell all of your firneds and forums as opposed to you cracking one that normal and the usual and drinking it going about your way. As for my DIY, you dont have to stick it on your dash vertically. You could put it anywhere you want. I did so to read the gps
I bougth a Touchstone yesterday. But it did not come with a backcover. It came with a cord and adaptor to plug it in the wall. I thought they came with the backcover? I got it from the Sprint store and paid $80 dollars for it.
