When will Sprint Navigation get fixed? I see that a lot of people have the problem where Sprint Navigation cannot find your present location via GPS (even though Google Maps has no problem doing so...). The only fix for this seems to be resetting the Pre. This has been an issue on the Pre since I bought it, through all OS versions, and both of my brothers have the same issue with their Pre's. Is Sprint even aware that this thing is broken? Do they care? Why do we get all these "updates" yet none seem to address actual problems (not able to change SMS txt sounds, low speaker volume, etc)?
I had this problem too, but Sprint Navigation works fine after turning Auto Locate 'On' in Location Settings.
Odd mine has not had this problem. It locates me automatically. Are you sure you have it switched on?
Never had a problem as well. Of course you are going to find people complaining if they are having issues. No one is going to post "Hey My GPS works great!!"
I had this issue once back when using OS version 1.1.3. I hadn't seen it ever since. It might be related to your location.
Mine works pretty well, Google maps is something to be desired as it only half the time picks out where I am properly. Funny how Trapster does and is based off google maps.
I have had problems with Sprint Navigation on my Palm Pre. Last night was the first time I have used it in a long time. But, I have noticed the following issues: 1. The audio cuts on and off. For example, the voice will say: "Turn right, on _____ street". This doesn't happen all the time, but, when it does, it is annoying. 2. Not being able to acquire a GPS fix. The suggested way to get around this is to reset the phone. That does work, however, the problem eventually came back. Also, having to reset the phone considering how long it takes for the Pre get past the "Palm" screen is a huge hassle. 3. While using the Sprint Navigation, sometimes in the middle of driving it will say: "Low GPS signal" For more information check out these links: Choppy Audio on Sprint Navigation Palm Pre Palm Pre Sprint Navigation Problems Sprint Navigation unable to find GPS
Yes, my phone is still having problems with Sprint Navigation. We should all customer support to complain about this. I called them today and asked if they have ever heard anything about Sprint Navigation working incorrectly on the Palm Pre. The representative looked into some document with "Known Issues for certain phones" and he told me that he was NOT aware there was an issue. Then, he transferred me over to technical support and I asked the same question. She has NEVER heard anything about it either and proceeded to transfer me over to a Advanced Technical Support who asked if I had auto-locate and GPS on (which I do have those on). Apparently, she has NEVER heard of it either! Moral of the story is: If we want to get this issue noticed, we should CALL CUSTOMER SUPPORT and get our voices heard! EDIT: Next, I got transferred to Palm Customer Support next, and told him about the Sprint Navigation issue. I told him about how there are a lot of people on the Internet complaining about Sprint Navigation not working properly on Palm Pre and the possibility that it has something to do with update 1.3.1. He put me on hold as he looked at his sheet of known issues. He gets back on the line, then he asks me for my serial number, and he tells me that this issues isn't in his document of known issues. He also told me that he talked with his manager who suggested to transfer me to Sprint Advanced Technical Support (I just talked to them before this). I knew it was just going to be a runaround situation so I just hung up.
this happened to me few times. Not often, but happened. Most recent in Vancouver Canda last week. Damn, did I get lost there. Next time I will bring a map for a backup One solution that always worked is doing a device reset. What also worked for me is ##477# - I try this first before I do reset.
just as "update network settings" updates your network, ##GPS# updates your positioning data. Give it a try
Kool thanks....my Sprint navigation had issues when i 1st got the phone(release day) but with updates Sprint Nav is now blazing fast...and works really nicely now
I've had GPS-failing issues since day one with mine, going back to mid-June. It will work after a restart for about two-three days then starts failing to locate. Very frustrating.
Great because Sprint Navigation is my favorite of the two. Love plugging it into the car and listen to voice directions over my car speakers. Their display is less cluttered - but very functional - also.
